We believe that a connoisseur of sound
would find the merest flaw intolerable and for
him we have designed and built the new
Dovedale 3, lfyou are such a listener, you will
recognise the significance of-and then insist
on possessing - the control, performance and
sheer quality reflected in this fine speaker
system.

Bass Unit

The front mounting of the 300 mm (l2')
speaker eliminates tunnelling" effects. The
massive 135,000 Maxwells magnet serves a
heavy-duty paper cone with rubber roll
surround. The special high stability rear sus
pension reduces bottoming which occurs on
lower quality units at high power in low fre-
quencies, The critically adjusted dynamic mass
provides excellent control at the lowest fre-
quencies and minimises distortion at the cross-
over level.

Mid-range Unit

The 130 mm (5) speaker has a 48.000
Maxwells magnet and the components have
been specially developed for robust power
handling in these important frequencies The
speaker is acoustically rear-loaded in an
isolated, energy-absorbing cavity. The result is
the total absence of coloration due to rear-
radiated energy returned via reflection through
the cone.
Treble Unit

The 25 mm (1') tweeter has a cone of
cellulose acetate hutyrate which is not only
light and strong but also ensures a very wide
angle of dispersion: an omni-directional
polar response beyond the limits of the human
ear. The smooth response and good transient
attack are maintained in the critical region of
9000 - l5000 Hz by phase compensation,

Each individual speaker unit is performance
tested before being fitted in the cabinet.

Crossover Unit

The highly complex network of twelve
electronic components produces ultra-low
distortion crossover at the two carefully
chosen frequencies of 600 Hz and 5000 Hz.

Adjustment in the home

Three posrtion switch attenuators are
provided for the mid-range and treble speakers
to obtain fine adjustments (,L 3 dB) to suit
different room conditions.

Exclusive Moulded Connector

Wharfcdale cabinets incorporate both
DIN socket and screw terminals in this con-
nector, moulded from inert plastic material.
With this facility you will always be able to
connect the speaker to any amplifier easily and
quickly.

Impressive Frequency Response

The curve indicates the consistency of
response in the Dovedale 3: tJdB from 45 Hz
to more than 20000 Hz. That represents just
one aspect. and to appreciate the full facts. the
best test you can give the speaker is to listen to
it - like the connoisseurs of sound.

For discerning eyes too

Wharfedale have selected extra thick
material for the cabinet of the Dovedale 3 to
ensure lowest cabinet resonance, It looks solid.
and satisfies every taste for good furniture.
The fascia is a solid wood moulding and the
veneers are the choicest available, Choose
alternative grille cloths too - black or brown
with Teak veneer; brown or oatmeal with
Walnut veneer,
