Servicing the Technics SL-JZ
Some minimal maintenance job

The Technics SL-J2 has a little belt that drives the canridge arm and should be replaced from time to
time (it get deteriorated when the turntable is unused for long periods of time)
The replacement belt is diameter 25 mm.

Another problem is the lubrication of the plastic toothed wheel and pinion and the cartridge arm rail.
At the factory the use a kind of Vaseline that through the time becomes hard and difficults the cartridge
arm movement.

The hardened Vaseline should be cleaned with a cotton swab embedded in white benzene.

I used pure silicone oil to lubricate again that parts (it should be a liquid lubricant than doesnt ruin
plastics)

To service the SL-JZ you must detach the cover loosening the four plastic rivets (2 at each side)

The rivets are made of 2 or 3 pieces. You must disassemble 1 piece (of the 2 or 3 that forms the rivet) at
a time. (also to assembly the rivets at the end of the job you must do it one piece at a time)
A little screwdriver will help to take off the rivets.
