The STAX SR-Lambda semi-panoramic imaging elec-
trostatic earspeaker represents the ultimate in sonic
quality. It combines the high durability of the STAX
SR-X/Mk3 earspeaker with the natural ambience
retrieval characteristics of the STAX SR-Sigma ear-
speaker.

The SR-Lambda employs a unique openvtype enclo-
sure to house an oval-shaped electrostatic transducer
held slightly aslant to meet the angle of the outer ear.
The radiated sound is captured by all parts of the outer
ear and then conducted to the eardrum. This provides a
spacious sound field that is perceived to be outside of
the listener's head.

Since the SR-Lambda encloses the outer ear, it is more
comfortable to use than headphones that press on the
ear. Comfort is an important part of the SR'Lambda
design. The soft earpads of the SR-Lambda are molded
to different thicknesses corresponding to the shape of
the head. The headband of the SR-Lambda is also
designed with wearing comfort in mind. It evenly
distributes the headphones weight across the head to
make the SR-Lambda feel as though it is not there at
all. The SR-Lambda is most faithful to the listener and
the music that it reproduces.
