The alignment is to be perlormed at a Tape speed at 7-1/2 ips unless otherwise specified.

Azimuth Alignment of the Playback Head

Connect on 8 ohm load resistor in parallel with the VTVM terminals.

Connect the VTVM to the LlNE/SP Jack Um).

Thread the SONY Alignment Tape " T" on the machine

Set the LINE/SP Selector Switch to " Speaker ".

Press the CH_1 Button.

Play bad: the 10 Kc 'tone which is recorded on the first section oi the alignment tape " T".

Adjust the azimuth alignment screw located on the right side of the Playback Head to obtain the maximum

reading on the VTVM.

Recording Bias Adiustmentjor Channel-l (Channel-2)

Set the machine in record mode.
Connect a VTVM across winding at the REC/PB Head at CH_. (CH4).
Adiust the Potentiometer Rm; anal (95) in Fig. 2 on page 3) so that the VTVM indicates approximately

25V-36V.

Recording Level Indicator Adiustment for Channel-i (Channel-2)

Connect a 100k ohm load resistor in parallel with the VTVM terminals and connect the VTVM to the
LINE/SF Jack 1103,0203).

Set the LINE/SP Selector Switch to " LINE

Feed a lkc tone at --60 st through MIC Jack Jm lszi.

Turn the Volume Control Knob Rm (le (H92) in Fig. i) so that the VTVM read: +2 st.

Adiust the Potentiorneter Rm (R122) (94) in Fig. 2 on page 4) so that the pointer of the Level Meter

is iust at the boundary between the Red portion and the Black portion, while keeping the Volume Control

as it is.
