1 Press CD (direct power-on). 3 Close the CD compartment. 4 Press u (N on the remote, CFD-S32/S32L only). The player plays all the tracks once. Track number Playing time To adjust the volume stop playback pause playback go to the next track go back to the previous track remove the CD turn on/off the player Using the display Checking the total track number and playing time Press DISPLAY ENT¥MEMORY in stop mode. Checking the remaining time Press DISPLAY ENT¥MEMORY while playing a CD. To display the current track number and the remaining time on the current track* the number of tracks left and remaining time on the CD the current track numberand playing time * For a track whose number is more than 20, the remaining time appears as Ò- -:- -Ó in the display. Locating a specific track To locate a specific track directly a point while listening to the sound a point while observing the display Tip When you locate a track numbered over 10, press >10 first, then the corresponding number buttons. Example:To play track number 23, press >10 first, then 2 and 3. Note You cannot locate a specific track if "SHUF" or "PGM" is lit in the display. Turn off the indication by pressing x. Repeat Play 1 Press CD. 2 Proceed as follows: To repeat a single track all the tracks tracks in random order programmed tracks To cancel Repeat Play Press PLAY MODE¥MONO/ST until ÒREPÓ disappears from the display.Total track number Total playing time Shuffle Play 1 Press CD. 2 Press PLAY MODE¥MONO/ST until ÒSHUFÓ appears in the display. 3 Press u to start shuffle play. To cancel Shuffle Play Press PLAY MODE¥MONO/ST until ÒSHUFÓ disappears from the display. Programme Play 1 Press CD. 2 Press PLAY MODE¥MONO/ST until ÒPGMÓ appears in the display. 3 Press the number buttons for the tracks you want to programme in the order you want. You can arrange the playing order of up to 20 tracks. 4 Press u to start program play. To cancel Programme Play Press PLAY MODE¥MONO/ST until ÒPGMÓ disappears from the display. To check the order of tracks before play Press DISPLAY ENT¥MEMORY. Every time you press the button, the track number appears in the programed order. To change the current programme Press x once if the CD is stopped and twice if the CD is playing. The current program will be erased. Then create a new programme following the programming procedure. Tips ¥ You can play the same program again, since the program is saved until you open the CD compartment. ¥ You can record your own program. After youÕve created the programme, insert a blank tape and press z to start recording. Each time you press the button, the indication changes as follows: CFD-S22/S32: ÒFM1Ó n ÒFM2Ó n ÒAMÓ CFD-S22L/S32L/922L: ÒFM1Ó n ÒFM2Ó n ÒMWÓ n ÒLWÓ. 2 Hold down TUNING + or Ð (TUNE + or Ð on the remote, CFD-S32/S32L only) until the frequency digits begin to change in the display. The player automatically scans the radio frequencies and stops when it finds a clear station. If you can't tune in a station, press the button repeatedly to change the frequency step by step. To adjust the volume turn on/off the radio To improve broadcast reception Reorient the antenna for FM. Reorient the player itself for AM or MW/LW. FM AM/MW/LW Tips ¥ The "FM1" and "FM2" bands have the same functions. You can store the stations you want separately in "FM1" and "FM2". ¥ If the FM broadcast is noisy, press PLAY MODE¥MONO/ST until "Mono" appears in the display and the radio will play in monaural. Display RADIO BAND AUTO PRESET Display HI LO Presetting radio stations You can store radio stations into the playerÕs memory. You can preset up to 30 radio stations (CFD-S22/S32) or 40 radio stations (CFD-S22L/S32L/ 922L), 10 for each band in any order. 1 Press RADIO BAND¥AUTO PRESET to select the band. 2 Hold down RADIO BAND¥AUTO PRESET for 2 seconds until "AUTO" flashes in the display. 3 Press DISPLAY ENT¥MEMORY. The stations are stored in memory from the lower frequencies to the higher ones. Tip If you automatically preset the "FM1" or "FM2" band, 10 radio stations are stored in "FM1" band and 10 more radio stations are stored in "FM2" band. If a station cannot be preset automatically You need to preset a station with a weak signal manually. 1Press RADIO BAND¥AUTO PRESET to select the band. 2Tune in a station you want. 3Hold down the number buttons that you want to preset the new station on for about 2 seconds. The new station replaces the old one. Playing preset radio stations 1 Press RADIO BAND¥AUTO PRESET to select the band. 2 Press the number buttons to tune in the stored station. Display Tip To listen through headphones, connect the headphones to the i (headphones) jack. CD/RADIO DIRECT OPERATION Display c Display Enjoying Sound effects (LOOP/FLASH) (CFD-S32/S32L only) You can repeat part of a CD (LOOP) and can "flash" the CD sound (FLASH) during playback. 1 Play a CD. 2 Press and hold LOOP or FLASH at the point you want to start the function. To Press and Hold repeat a selected part of a CD LOOP on the remote "flash" the CD sound FLASH on the remote To cancel the LOOP or FLASH function Release the button. The player returns to normal play. Notes on CDs ¥ Before playing, clean the CD with a cleaning cloth. Wipe the CD from the center out. ¥ Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners or anti-static spray intended for vinyl LPs. ¥ Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight or heat sources such as hot air ducts, nor leave it in a car parked in direct sunlight as there can be a considerable rise in temperature inside the car. ¥ Do not stick paper or sticker on the CD, nor scratch the surface of the CD. ¥ After playing, store the CD in its case. If there is a scratch, dirt or fingerprints on the CD, it may cause tracking error. 2 Press Z PUSH OPEN/CLOSE down to open the CD compartment and place a CD in the CD compartment.
