NOTES ON HANDLING THE OPTICAL PICK-UP BLOCK OR
BASE UNIT

The laser dlode 1n the optical ptck-up block may surfer electrostattc
breakdown because of the potenttal dtfference generated by the
charged electrostatrc load, etc on clothtng and the human body
Dunng repatr, pay attenuon to electrostattc breakdown and also use
the procedure In the prtnted matter WthIl 1s Included 1n the repatr
parts

The flextble board 1s eas1ly damaged and should be handled wrth
care

NOTES ON LASER DIODE EMISSION CHECK

The laser beam on thls model Is concentrated so as to be focused on
the drsc reflective surface by the ObjeCLlVC lens m the optlcal pick-up
block Therefore, when checking the laser dtode emtsston, observe
from more than 30 cm away from the objectrve lens

NOTES ON PICK-UP FLEXIBLE BOARD

The plck-up flexxble board to this set 15 secured to the opttcal ptck-up
wlth an adhesrve tape Once the tape IS removed, an adhermg force
becomes weak, and It cannot be reused

Therefore, 1f the optrcal ptck-up lS replaced, replace also the prck-up
llextble board wrth a new one

NOTES ON CLEANING THE OBJECTIVE LENS

Apply CD lens cleaner 3-4 (Part No J-2501-000-A) to cotton swabs
(narrow type) (Part No J-2501-023-A) to be ltghtly wet Use a force
(about 5 g (0 18 02)) to make the objectrve lens 1n contact wtth the
bottom ltghtly, and clean the lens by sprrals as followmg below

Replace the cotton swab and repeat thts cleanmg two or three nmes

surface of objective lens

Notes:

Do not force to push the objecttve lens Otherwtse, the plate spnng
supportmg the objecnve lens wrll be bent, causmg a detenorated RF
waveform

Never touch anythmg other than the ODJCCIIVC lens Otherwlsc, a stg-
mftcant detenoratton occurs 1n the RF waveform
