INSTALLING THE CARTRIDGE

Remove Stylus Assembly. Care/idly grasp mimd
caps on Sides of Stylus assembly and gently [ml] Stylus
assembly 014/ qf cartridge body,
Mount Cartridge in Tune Arm. Use supplied screws
and hex nuts to mount cartridge. (The mounting hard-
ware package is under the insert in the cartridge box.) In-
sen the screws into the mounting holes or slots in the
headshell and through the cartridge mounting bracket
from either above or below. Partially tighten the screws.
4-Lead Stereo Connection. Make electrical connec-
tions: Right (R), red; Right Ground (RG), green: Left
(L), white: and Left Ground (LG), blue.
Replace the Stylus Assembly. Carefully grasp the round
caps on the sides of the stylus assembly and gently insert
the stylus body tube fully into the cartridge body at a
slight upward angle. Do not force.
Alignment. To make sure that the turntable cannot move
during the alignment procedure, place the small wedges
(from supplied hardware bag) beneath the outer edge of
the platter. Put a record on the turntable. Lift the Dynam-
ic Stabilizer until it clicks into the locked up" position
(see Figure 5). Move the cartridge forward or backward
in the tone arm to place the stylus tip at the overhang
point recommended for the tone arm or headshell. Bal-
ance the tone arm and lempmarily apply a tracking force
ofl gram.
Alignment Protractor. Slip the hole ofthe Shure align-
ment protractor over the turntable spindle, and place the
protractor on the record over the area where the stylus
tracks.
Inner Alignment Point. Lower the tone arni so that the
stylus tip rests on the inner STYLUS TIP marking on the
protractor (Point is). lfthe sides ofthe cartridge body are
not parallel to the reference lines on the protractor, raise
the tone arm and adjust the cartridge body position so
that it is parallel to the reference lines on the protractor.
Outer Alignment Point. Repeat this procedure for the
outer STYLUS TIP marking on the protractor (Point l1).
Repeat this procedure on Points :1 and b until the car-
tridge body is parallel at both points. If the cartridge can
only be made parallel at one point, select Point a, closer
to the center of the record. When the adjustment proce-
