4-WAY 6-SPEAKER MULTl-DIRECTION SPEAKER SYSTEM
Sansuls exclusive Multi-Direction
speaker systems take you beyond the
ordinary forward-only reproduction of
sound source points to an incredibly
lifelike way of recreating the original
sound field. The secret is in the Multi-
Direction configuration, a new way of
anglermounting the individual speaker
units to project the complex, overlapping
sound wave patterns of music into every
corner of your listening room. This is
especially important in stereo or 4-chan-
nel when dimension is as essential as
tonality. The super-sized Sansui SP-3500A
handles a big 105 watts of input, opening
up a totally new and dynamic experience 5
in sound. The six matched speaker units
include the large 14" cone woofer, two
angle-mounted cone midranges and
a special horn midrange, and two angle-
mounted horn tweeters. The high-perfor-
mance LC-lype crossover network with
,Ievel controls. the big bass-reflex enclo-
sure, handcarved Kumiko fretwork grille,
and other special touches enhance the
systems good looks and smooth,
musical performance.

4-WAY 6-SPEAKER, 105 WATTS
The SP-3500A is of a 4-way 6-speaker
design, consisting of a large 14-inch high-cut
type. high-compliance woofer. a 4%6- by 2-inch
horn midrange with a sound diffuser and a pair
of Multi-Direction [MD] system 4-inch cone
mldranges with aluminum radiators. Plus a pair
of 27inch MD system horn tweeters for the
highs. Thanks to the use of specially con-
structed. rugged voice coils. the system is
able to handle up to 105 watts in power input.
MULTl-DIRECTION SYSTEM
A Sansui-exclusive method of speaker
mounting. Multi-Direction (MD). angles the
midranges and tweeters to create a whirlpool
of sound" within the listening room. This
acoustic development gives you an exciting
liveliness, a sense of presence', that is signifi-
cant when the speakers are used either in 4-
channel or 2-channel application.

NEWLY DESIGNED WOOFER
The newly developed high-cut type woofer of
the SP-35OOA permits the output signal of
the amplifier to be fed directly into the woofer.
bypassing the crossover network. The result is
a very smooth frequency response even at
very low frequencies. which in turn results in
extremely well-damped rich bass sound. This
special design is unique with Sansui. Another

outstanding advantage of this woofer is found
in its high compliance. The woofer achieves a
stable piston action with superior transient
response even in the face of big power inputs.
Quality copper coil. aluminum bobbin. and a
cone of carefully selected pulp help to improve
the speaker's frequency response as well as
its sound diffusion at extremely low frequencies.
HORN MIDRANGE
Sansui engineers have placed a lot of
emphasis on the midranges-those important
frequencies where the vast majority of musical
instruments perform. One of the speakers
used is a 4%5- by 2-inch midrange for the
frequencies from 1.000 to 5.000Hz. While the
cut-off frequency of this speaker is set as low
as 1 .OOOHz, it is intentionally used in the higher
frequencies to eliminate the obnoxious metallic
feeling peculiar to horn speakers. A short-cut.
exponential type die-cast from aluminum, this
speaker is fronted with a sound diffuser
[acoustic lens). giving it excellent sound
dispersion characteristics. It also utilizes a
25mm¢ titanium diaphragm for top timbre
qualities.
CONE MIDRANGES
Two 4-inch cone midranges are mounted
at an interior angle of 15 degrees to the front
as a part of the SP-3500As MD System.
Together with the horn midrange speaker.
they handle the mid range sound in an acoustic
staggering system" for greater depth and
richness of reproduced sound, Each of the
cone speakers has a newly developed concave
aluminum dome radiator directly mounted on
its voice coil bobbin. This permits a very
smooth transition to the tweeters with virtually
no phase agitation, and helps to improve the
diffusion of reproduced sound as well.
Designed to effectively diffuse radiated heat.
each speaker is able to withstand big power
input. The rear of each speaker is sealed with
big-cavity plastic covers lined with abundant
acetate sound absorbent to completely prevent
woofer interference.
2-INCH HORN TWEETERS
Two 2-inch horn tweeters, arranged vertically.
handle frequencies over 8.000Hz. The upper
tweeter is tilted to the left by 3 degrees and the
lower tweeter to the right by 3 degrees. improv-
ing sound dispersion for a reinforced sound
field effect. Each has a light vibrating system
with a new-type 19mm¢ polyester diaphragm,
and reproduces treble notes that are a clear,
refreshing timbre.
NEW CROSSOVER NETWORK
The SP-3500A has a high-performance LC
type network with an ideal E-type ferrite core.
and is mounted on a printed circuit board for
reliability. Level controls for the mid-ranges
and tweeters are of a unique 3-step (SOFT.
NATURAL and CLEAR) tap-down" switch
design. They ensure accurate level control and
are free from the faulty contact and perfor-
mance-deterioration disadvantages of resistor-
type attenuators.
BASS REFLEX CHIPBOARD
ENCLOSURE
The bass reflex speaker design has two pro-
jecting pipe ducts. It completely avoids an
unnatural increase in sound pressure at low
frequencies and gives a flat frequency charac-
teristic and very low-distortion factor. The solid
chipboard cabinet is able to reproduce heavy
rich bass naturally. lts mitered joint construc-
tion increases rigidity and structural strength
and assures damped cabinet resonance.
resulting in a solid bass sound. The cabinet
features Sansui's handcarved Kumiko fretwork
grille.
PUSHBUTTON CONNECTION
TERMINALS
Effortless connections are made with the
SP-3500A because of the use of foolproof
one-touch pushbutton type connection
terminals.
