CREATIVE SPEAKER DESIGN BASED ON
REPEATED HEARING TESTS AS WELL AS ON
LABORATORY TESTS

Speaker performance may be well measured by labo-
ratory instrumentation. But live sound must be
proved by human ears or hearing test. Thus, Sansuis
speaker system is designed on the basis of a wide
variety of data obtained from repeated actual tests as
well as from laboratory tests. These tests have been
made not Only in our modern laboratory and test room,
but also in different dimensions and decors of real
living rooms made of different construction materials.
WThatsrwhy Sansuis SP series system can reproduce
lifelike stereo sound wherever it may be installed.

3- WAY 5- SPEAKERS SYSTEM

The SP-ZOO is a full- -range 3-way
5- -speakers system consisting of a
12-inch woofer, two 5-inch mid-
range speakers and two 2-inch
horn type tweeters. It can faith-
fully reproduce deep, rich lows,
and clean, transparent highs, and
all the tones in between.
WOOFER: Designed to match
the pipe-ducted bass reflex type
., enclosure. Its edge, paper cone,
damper and other components are all designed to give
the best linearity even at any big amplitudes, assuring
good damping characteristic at low frequencies.
Equipped with specially designed level control.
MIDRANGES: It is often said that the quality of
midrange determines the value of a speaker system.
Generally many speaker systems tend to neglect the
midrange, giving too much care to high and low fre-
quency ranges. The SP-ZOO is provided with two 5-
inch rear-sealed high-performance midranges whose
powerful magnetic circuit prevents any interference
with the woofer. They can reproduce a live sound
of strongly attacked percussion instruments as if they
were played just before you.

TWEETERS: The clear, clean, transparent highs are
a measure of a performance of a speaker system.

The SP-ZOO possesses two horn-type speakers whose
frequency response is more than 20,000 Hz and whose
transient response is excellent, too. You can enjoy
romantic mood of strings as it is.

FAITHFUL REPRODUCTION OF BASS TONES BY
PIPE-DUCTED BASS REFLEX

The Sansuis exclusive pipe-ducted bass reflex
enclosure helps reproduce original bass tones faithfully.
The bass sounds that are boomy or exaggerated in a
limited bass range never deserve the name of Hi-Fi.
In order to match the pipe duct characteristics, the
woofer is designed to lower a greatly by the cross
edge, assuring the faithful reproduction of the lowest.

TRANSFORMER TYPE 12dB CROSSOVER
NETWORK

Heres the Sansuis exclusive knowhow of._the1.trans-
fomer. The transformer type network is designed to
let each of woofer, midranges and tweeters function
in its most suitable frequency range, assuring clear
sound even at the crossover points.

SPECIALLY DESIGNED LEVEL CONTROL

The Sansui s exclusive
M'D- HIGH RANGE transformer-type cross-
' over network changed,
the level control from the
conventional volume-
type attenuator to the
latest tap-type control
whose operation does
not influence the damping characteristics at all. This
level control has three positions to adjust: clear,
natural and soft. The natural position is for the
average rooms; "clear for the rooms where the highs
are swallowed up and the lows are exaggerated; and
soft for the rooms where the lows are swallowed
up and the highs are exaggerated.

SOFT I

1 INCH THICK GLASS WOOL USED AS SOUND

ABSORBENT

1 inch thick glass wool with the highest soundabsorb-
ing cocflieient possible prevents the standing wave
from occuring in the enclosure. As a result, the
mutual interference of the speakers is completely
eliminated.
