Congratulations on joining the thousands of proud, satisfied
owners of quality stereo components from Sansui. The speaker
units and acoustical enclosure of the SP-1200 are entirely new
designs, containing fresh technical features:

Multi-directional Speaker System
The Multi-directional Speaker System creates the
realistic atmosphere of a concert hall or a jazz club
for each listener in the room, regardless of seating
position. In this system, the two (four in the stereo
pair) midrange units are directed inward at an angle
of 15° to the principal axis of the speaker system
itself so that their directional sound waves are
crossed in the sound field to offer not only wide
dispersion but realistic reproduction of music.

Woofer

The 10 woofer employs special voice coil assembly
which operates as a mechanical high-cut filter. Thus,
the power output from the amplifier is fed directly
into the woofer not through the crossover network.
This gives uniform response through the lowest
octave of hearing. It is also fitted with 43/, mas-
sive ferrite magnet, copper voice coil and high
quality brass bobbin, all necessary when handling
high power of 60 watts.

Midranges

The two 4 midranges employ the aluminium con-
cave dome radiator mounted directly on the voice
coil bobbin which gives exceptionally smooth re-
sponse up to 20 kHz. It is also fitted with copper-
plated aluminium voice coil for linear frequency
response.

Placement

As a general rule, the speaker systems should not
face a bare plaster wall, large picture window or
some similar hard surface that can bounce back
most of the sound. If so, the music may sound
shrill. One way of avoiding this is to hang draperies
along at least part of the wall exactly opposite the
speakers.

Tweeters

The two tweeters employs copper-plated aluminium
voice coil for smooth response through full coverage
range.
