Important precautions
" Avoid exposing the tape deck (as well as your amplifier and other
audio equipment) to rain or direct sunlight.
Avoid exposing the tape deck to dust, excessively warm or cold
temperatures.
Place your tape deck on a solid, vibration-free surface.
Never remove the side bottom plates. Such removal is both physical-
ly and electrically dangerous.
If you place the tape deck on a shelf,be sure that the shelf board is
thick and strong enough to support the weight of the tape deck.
To clean the face and rear panels, wipe gently with a soft cloth
damped with water. Avoid the use of alcohol, thinners or benzine as
the surfaces in question may be permanently marred.

Some useful hints
Cleaning the heads
The binder and oxide from magnetic tape accumulate on the heads (A
and B) over a long period of time, along with dust and other impurities.
This will impair the heads sensitivity as well as the total quality of
reproduced sound, and could also result in 'dropouts of sound. In
addition, if the capstan shaft [Cl and pinch roller (D) are contaminated,
it could cause irregular revolution (technically termed 'wow').
If such seems to be the case with your tape deck, wipe these parts
carefully with the Head Cleaning Pen (supplied) or a head cleaning
kit. Cleaning of the head is made easier if you push the PLAY button
while you clean it. Never use anything that may scratch or nick the
head surfaces.
Demagnetizin ereco play head
The record/play head (B) of your tape deck gradually becomes mag-
netized with use and tends to add noise to reproduced sound.
It is therefore adVisable to demagnetize the head from time to time,
using a head demagnetizer. This greatly helps to prevent precious music
tapes and important recordings from acquiring undesirable noise, and
also helps you make noise-free recordings. Be sure to turn the POWER
switch off before you attempt to demagnetize the tape head.
