Alignment
Instrument: Audio generator, AC VTVM, oscilloscope,
test tape (LCTr3004-C and LOT-7001 or equivalent),
normal" blank tape (TDK AD tape).
A. Azimuth Adjustment
1.
2.
Set Tape Selector to NORMAL and Dolby NR switch
to OFF
Insert test tape (LCTv3004-C or equivalent) into deck
and play it back.
Adjust azimuth screw (Fig. 1) to maximize the
output levels of both channels at playback and
minimize the difference in output between left and
right channels.
. After adjustment, fix the azimuth screw with paint.

Rec Bias Adjustment
. Insert normal blank tape into the deck. Set Tape
Selector to NORMAL, Dolby NR switch to OFF, and
Recording Level control to maximum,
. Apply 400HZ signal into LINE IN lL-ch) from the
audio generator. Adjust output of the audio generator
so that line output level is 58mV. Record this signals
Change the frequency of audio generator to 10,000
Hz (with the input at the same level). Then record the
signal.

HMO-82
Adjust potentiometer VR103 on the main p»c board
(Fig, 2), by recording and playing back, until outputs
for 10,000H2 and 400HZ signals reach the same level,
3. Carry out this adjustment for R-ch, using potentio»
meter VR104 on the main p-c board.
C. Playback Level Adjustment
1.
Set Tape Selector to NORMAL and Dolby N R switch
to OFF. Connect the AC voltmeter to LINE OUT ter»
minalsl
l Play back test tape LOT-7001 (or equivalent), and
adjust potentiometer VR101 (VR102 for R-ch) on
the main p-c board (Fig. 2) so that the AC voltmeter
reads 580mV.
D. Recording Level Adjustment
1.
Set Tape Selector to NORMAL, Dolby NR switch to
OFF and Recording Level Control to maximum. Con-
nect the audio generator to LINE IN and AC volt-
meter and oscilloscope to LINE OUT.
. Insert normal tape (TDK AD tape) into the deck, and
press REC, PLAY and PAUSE buttons. Apply 400Hz
(sine wave) signal from the audio generator. Adjust
output of the audio generator so that the AC volt-
meter reads 184mV (ire, 580mV - 10dB).
. Record this signal. Check to see that the AC volt»
meter reads 184mV when the recorded tape is played
back
. If recording and playback levels differ from each
other, repeat step 3 until the two levels become
almost equal, by adjusting potentiometer VR105
(VR-106 for R-ch) on the main p-c board while re-
cording (Fig, 2).
