OPERATING GUIDE
Stereo Cartridge

PC-4D1 MC

MOUNTING PROCEDURE

Mount the cartridge onto the headshell using the ac-
cessory mounting screws.
Mounting nuts are not required since nuts have already

been inserted into the frame of the cartridge. (Fig. 1)
Connect the output pins of the cartridge to the cartridge

leads. Align the polarities as folows:
White to L, red to R, blue to LG, green to R6
(Fig. 2)
Do not solder directly onto the terminal pins of the car-
tridge since this will downgrade the cartridges perfor-
mance and may lead to malfunctions.

PRECAUTIONS FOR OPERATION

- The designated tracking force is 1.7 to 2.3 9. Apply-
ing too little tracking force tends to make the stylus
jump and should therefore be avoided.

0 A tracking force of 2.0 to 2.3 g is recommended for
warped records or for use in a cold room.

0 Purchase replacement stylusfrom your local Pioneer
dealer. (PNo401MC)

This genuine Pioneer part is the only suitable
replacement stylus.

0 When using a stylus cleaner (organic solvent).
benzene or thinner to clean the stylus tip, make sure
that none of the liquid comes into contact with the
stylus holder.

0 Do not touch the stylus tip or allow it to fall onto the
record.

REPLACING THE STYLUS

The stylus of the cartridge will last for between about
800 and 1,000 hours. If used when worn, the sound
reproduced will be distorted and your records will be
damaged. To replace the stylus, pull out the stylus
holder in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 3); then insert
the replacement stylus in the same direction, taking
care not to damage the stylus tip.
