Standard product information

The F8 505 surround field speaker systems
exists of three speakers: one 2-way centre
speaker and two diffuse field surround
speakers.

CENTRE SPEAKER

The centre speaker contains one Polydome

tweeter and two 4" woofers to ensure a
natural reproduction of the voices and the
dynamic sound effects of the centre channel.
The drivers are magnetically shielded so that
this speaker can be used directly on or under
yourtelevision set. The centre speaker
features a base that allows you to tilt the
speaker up or down giving you the correct

listening angle for the centre sound effects.

SURROUND SPEAKERS

The surround speakers contain two full
range 4 drivers each.

Surround sound effects are meant to be
non-directional by the software producers.
Therefore the drivers are configured in a
way that the resulting sound field is very
diffuse. This effect recreates the cinema
surround sound quality without needing
multiple surround speakers. In a good cinema
16 surround speakers are used to create this
diffuse field.

OVERLOAD PROTECTION

The overload protection prevents the
possibility of expensive damage being
caused by overload, without compromising
the musical performance in any way.

The protection circuit has two coloured
LED indicators.

Note:

like all Philips loudspeakers, the new F8 505 speaker
system is designed to operate continuously, without
protection, for at least 100 hours at rated (PHLI
continuous power, and at least 70 minutes at maximum
(Pmaxl pa wer. These generous power handling ratings
are a safety factor in themselves

The overload protection safeguards the F3 505 speaker
system against any load in excess of them.
