VALVE ANALYSIS
The voltage and pin-rent readings
listed in the table below are those given
by Philips Im an average chassis working
With no aerial or earth connected. All
voltages werd measured With a high
resistance voltmeter, the chassis Icing
negative, and the anode currents of V1
and V2 were taken With a iiiilliaiiiiimter
Inserted in the low 1-1.1. potential suds
of the circuits. As an alternative to
this method of ensuring stability divrmg
measurements the valves may he

switch assembly, shown in a sketch (in [his page.

GENERAL NOTES
In the majority of casvs the notes
giwii on page» 32 and 33 of Sheet No. 20.
\ol 1. Will be applicable also to the
Morltl 580A under consideration, but as a
tertain amount oi re-nuiuberiiig of cum-
pmients has orrurred. the numbers do
nrii necessarily correspond.
Switchessi'lhcre are four \vnvcband
5WILClICS, 81-34, and a two-pole, mains
switch, 85, 86. Those two groups are
ganged by a lever. 85 and 86 are shown
in our underscha. is vievi, while the
51-84 assembly is shown in the form 01 d

switchns are closed (in the M W band and

Coils.7Thc signal frequency and oscil-
lator coils are mounted in three " cans
on top of the chassis, whilst the LF. coils
are in two similar "Lain." below the
iihassis Since the screens are not
removable, it Will be adVisable, in case of
coil trouble) to fit new units. The units
are easily removable from the chassis

Condensers C7. 018.7These are in a
single can on top oi the chassis. Three
(innnrliing tags project downwards
through the: chasms. The common tag is
that which is erirthed to chassis. The tag
uouneued to the screening grids of V1,
V2, V4 is the other terminal oi 07, While
that connected to the screening grid oi
V5 is the other terminal oi 016.
Circuit Alignment-The instructions
given in Sheet No 2n can be followed,
bearing in mind the different numbering
ui the components, All the condensers
HIVUthd in the trimming operations now
have numbers two less than in Sheet 20
Thus 025 is no 028. and 033 is now 031.
