TO REMOVE CHASIS FIOM CAN'T.

Withdraw the power plug horn the mains outlet
sodter. Leann the live knob retaining grub screws
and remove knobs. Remove cabinet back panel, un-
screw the aerial Ind earth terminal strip and withdrew
through cut-out. Disconnect the internal aerial.

Ramon the pick-up, speaker and betel lamp plugs
ironi rear of receiver diasis, together with the two
mains lead plug mim Withdraw the 2 pin
polarized plug (braided lead) from the 2nd amvlitier
chassis.

Giants withdrawal h at accomplished with the
receiver convent-tent in the open position. initially
remove the two wood screws at either side extreme
top edge of the dial back plate and while supporting
the weight of chassis in suitable wooden wedge between
chassis back plate and rear cabinet bar will be found
useful) withdraw the M ii" Whit. metal thread screws
at the rear of chasis side flanges. The chassis may
now be withdrawn beneath compartment cross bar.

Chassis replacement procedure I: the reverse of the
fortoeino, but care should be taken to ensure that
chassis flanges locate under the lip of each iront chassis
moperting plats.

MAINS VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT.

The power transformer primary windings are provided
with two melns voltage tawny-2001250 volts and
240/250 volts-tor adjustment to the supply voltage
at the point of installation. The receiver is factory
adjusted to the 240/250 voile tapping.

DIAL caLieItanoti.

In the event of an and calibration error Mr the
entire rial scale, the dial cursor can easily be moved
on the dial drive cotti to correct the error.

ALIGNMENT.

Check that the position of pointer is over the stop
mark on the dial scale when tuning gang is fully closed.
Adlust if necessary as described in the mm

For |.F.T. and RF. trimmer hations reier to the
circuit diagram inset drawing.

The Radio" and "Speech" push buttons must remain
in the depressed position and the volume control he
act to maximum (fully clockwise! throwhout alignment

SERVICE DATA

IIC ALIGNMENT.

Use a standard R.M.A. dummy aerial and apply a
Modulated R.F. signal to the aerial terminal.

Alignment frequencies are: IAZO Kc/s. 3XY (peek
oscillator iClZ) and net I (C3) trimmers), and 600
Kc/s. 72L ipeak oscillator slug .7, 81 whilst rocking
9-mi-

SIW ALIGNMENT.

Alignment oi the S/W 2 band ivreve change switch
in central position) should be completed before (Viv
meneemult oi S/W l alignment.

Since the receiver oscillator frequenq is above that
of the signal, selection of tit. higher oi the two ire,
latencies tunable on the receiver is the correct alien-
rnertt procedure.

51W 2 (4.7 to 9.2 Mc/s) band: Alignment ite-
aucncies are 4.825 Mc/s [white triangle-peak oscillator
(L5, 6) slug], and 5.9 Mo/s (white triangle-peak
oscillator trimmer C15 and aerial trimmer C6 whilst
rocking gang). It the oscillator slug can he peaked
in two positions a core setting nearest to col] (attraction
log; is the correct setting. The minimum capacitance
liurihest out) position of oscillator trimmer CIS is
similarly the true peek setting at two possible Peaks
obtainable.

S/W i (9.| to lBA Mc/s-W/C twitch iuiiy
cockwisei band: Alignment frequencies are .8 Mel:
(green triangle-peak oscillator trimmer CH and aerial
trimmer C5 whilst rocking gang), and 9.65 Mc/s
(green triangle-«heck calibration). 711: minimum
capacitance setting of oscillator trimmer C14 is the
correct peak of two peaks obtainable, I... an image
response is tunable at l6.9 Mc/s.

Do not attempt adjustment at the slugs in aerial
coils Li, Z. arid L3. 4.

SPEAKER PHASING.

When speaker replacement is nocassary, it Is essen-
tiei to determine correct phasing before connecting
new speakers into circuit. Reterenze to the circuit
diagram will show that one voice coil terminal of eeoh
speaker is marked with 6 sign, which is designated
a: the positive side.

To determine the positive terminal. connect a hat-
IIW m the voice mil; the positive terminal will
be connected to the positive side of the battery when
the cone movement is out or forward, Speakers
must be connected as in the circuit dlagram.

MODIFICATION INTRODUCED PRIOR TO SERVICE
DATA PHILICATION.

'R44 introduced to reduce gain oi main chassis to that
of second channel amplifier, when balance control set.
ting is in central position.
