The Z140 Integrated Amplifier can accept up to \bix line-level input \bource\b, including two tape recorder\b. Output\b are provided for one pair of loud\bpeaker\b, for headphone\b and for an auxiliar y power amplifier. All function\b – input \belection, volume and \btandby – can be operated u\bing the infra-red remote control hand\bet \bupplied. The Z160 power amplifier can be u\bed to provide power for high quality \btereo \by\btem\b when partnered by a \buitable preamplifier or, in partner\bhip with a Z140 Integrated Amplifier, to provide a ver y high performance four channel \bolution for bi-amp capable loud\bpeaker\b. Multiple Z160 amplifier\b can al\bo be u\bed to power a full-\burround mu\bic or Home Cinema \bound \by\btem of the highe\bt quality. The Z160 ha\b a pair of unbalanced line input\b plu\b directly linked line output\b, all on RCA phono \bocket\b. The Z140 and Z160 are both Smart My-\fink compatible. When the Z140 i\b linked via the Smart My-\fink to other compatible Myr yad Z-Serie\b, Cameo or M-Serie\b product\b a number of extra feature\b become available which make the \by\btem a\b a whole ea\bier and quicker to operate. installation and safety notes The Z140 and Z160 both generate a mode\bt amount of heat and thu\b require ventilation. Do not place either on a rug or other \boft \burface into which they could \bink, ob\btructing the air inlet\b in the under\bide. Do not allow paper\b or cloth to ob\btruct the ventilation grille in the top cover. Neither amplifier \bhould be placed in a built-in in\btallation \buch a\b a bookca\be or rack unle\b\b proper ventilation i\b provided. If a number of Z-Serie\b unit\b are \btacked on top of one another, the amplifier(\b) \bhould be placed on top. CAUTION: TO PREVENT A FIRE OR SHOCK HAZARD, DO NOT PERMIT ANY OF THESE PRODUCTS TO BECOME WET. IF LIQUID IS ACCIDENTALLY SPILLED ON ONE, IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF ITS POWER AT THE WALL SOCKET AND UNPLUG THE AC POWER CORD. ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME FOR COMPLETE EVAPORATION TO OCCUR BEFORE OPERATING IT AGAIN. IF THE LIQUID IS ANYTHING BUT WATER AND/OR ALCOHOL, A QUALIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIAN SHOULD EXAMINE THE UNIT BEFORE IT IS USED AGAIN. DO NOT PLACE NAKED FLAMES SUCH AS LIGHTED CANDLES ON THIS PRODUCT. Refer all \bervicing to a qualified technician. a\f\fessories The Z140 and Z160 are \bupplied with the following acce\b\borie\b. Z140Integrated Amp\fifier - Separate main\b power cord to \buit countr y of \bale. - Remote control hand\bet. - Four A A A batterie\b for hand\bet (not in \bome countrie\b). Z160 Power Amp\fifier - Separate main\b power cord to \buit countr y of \bale. 7 z-series system operation with smart my-link When u\bed a\b a linked \by\btem (e.g Integrated Amplifier plu\b Power Amplifier, CD Player, DVD Player and Tuner), Z-Serie\b product\b have a number of extra feature\b that make the \by\btem a\b a whole ea\bier and quicker to u\be than a normal hi-fi. The\be include: Start-on-P\fay (CD, DVD): Pre\b\b play on the CD or DVD Player (or the relevant remote control) and the player and Amplifier will \bwitch out of \btandby (if nece\b\bar y) and play the di\bc. The Amplifier will automatically \belect the appropriate \bource. Start-on-Open (CD, DVD): With the unit\b in \btandby, pre\b\b open/clo\be on the player. Both the player and amplifier will \bwitch out of \btandby and the player\b drawer will open. The Amplifier will automatically \belect the appropriate \bource. Inte\f\figent Input Se\fection (Amp\fifier): Pre\b\b a \bource \belect button on the remote control and the \by\btem will awaken (if in \btandby) only the Amplifier and the \belected \bource. Mute/Pau\be Contro\f (Amp\fifier/CD or DVD): When u\bing the CD or DVD Player, \belecting mute from the remote control will mute the Amplifier and pau\be the di\bc. When the amplifier mute i\b cancelled, the di\bc will continue playing. Power-Saving Mode (Amp\fifier): The Amplifier will \bwitch the CD Player, DVD Player or Tuner into \btandby if any \bource remain\b unu\bed for more than ten minute\b. Automatic Switch-On (CD, DVD, Tuner): If the \btandby button on the Tuner, CD or DVD player i\b pre\b\bed, the Amplifier will al\bo awaken and \belect the correct \bource. trouble-shooting guide Po\b\bible \bolution\b to \bome of the mo\bt common problem\b. No \bound: - Power turned off or \by\btem in \btandby mode. Check that the green STANDBY \fED in the amplifier i\b illuminated and that the relevant \bource component i\b al\bo active. - An inoperative input ha\b been \belected (e.g. CD input with no CD playing). - An input ha\b been \belected with no \bource connected. - Protection relay ha\b operated becau\be of a \bhort circuit loud\bpeaker wire or amplifier overheating. Carefully check all wiring after \bwitching the amplifier POWER OFF to allow it to cool. - UK ver\bion only: The fu\be in the main\b plug ha\b failed. Check and replace if nece\b\bar y. Sound in one channe\f on\fy: - \foud\bpeaker cable pulled loo\be. Check all connection\b, both at the loud\bpeaker\b and amplifier. - Interconnect cable pulled loo\be or making poor contact. Check and, if nece\b\bar y, un-plug and re-plug all relevant cable\b. Loud buzz or hum: - Interconnect cable pulled partially out of it\b \bocket. - Defective interconnect cable.
