1. PRECAUTIONS

AVOID PLACEMENT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. NEAR
AIR CONDITIONER. ETC.

This system may become unstable it operated in a loca-
tion subject to sudden changes in temperature or humi~
dity. Avoid placement in direct sunlight. near air condi-
tioners or in areas of excess humidity or dust.

PLACE ON A RIGID SURFACE

if this system is placed on the same surface as the turn-
table. the speaker's vibrations will be transmitted to the
turntable. causing feedback. Be sure to place the spea-
ker systems on a strong foundation. This will prevent
vibrations from being transmitted.

USE EXTREME CARE IN MAKING THE CORRECT
CONNECTIONS

Reversing the (+) and (-) leads will eliminate stereo
reproduction and result in poor bass response. Any
contact between the two speaker leads will cause short-
circuiting and may damage the amplifiers.

USE THE SUPPLIED SPEAKER LEADS OR LEADS
OF A HlGl-ER GAUGE
The use of unnecessarily long speaker leads or one of
an extremely small diameter will affect the sound qua-
Iity. If it is necessary to use long lengths. be sure to use
at least a 16 gauge lead.

USE AN AMPLIFIER WITH OUTPUT TERMINALS
OF 4 ~ 16 OHMS

To ensure full performance. use amplifiers with a spea-
ker output impedance of 4 ~ 16 ohms. Please refer to
the nominal impedance of this system.

USE AN AMPLIFIER WITH A DAMPING FACTOR
GREATER THAN 5.

Poor damping will cause the quality 0! the sound to
deteriOrate. Please refer to the damping fact0r of the
amplifier.

2. COMECTIONS

. Turn off the power of the amplifier before connecting
the speaker system.

. Input terminals are provided on the rear of this spea-
ker system. Using the weaker wire supplied. con-
nectthe input terminals oI this speaker system to the
output terminals of the amplifier as shown in the dia-

ram.

gAUTION: If you use a power amplifier with a power
output of more than 240 w. do not use
the speaker wire supplied with this unit
for the power amplifier connections.

SOPERATION

AVOID EXCESSIVE POWER INPUT

This system is designed for minimum distortion perfor-
mance at all volume levels. However. excessive power
input can cause severe damage. Be extremely carful
not to apply excessive input to the speakers when using
a power amplifier with a power output capability ex-
ceeding the maximum power handling capacity of the
speaker system (refer to power handling capacity of
this system).

QLEVELOONI'ROL

The HIGH level controls are located on the front baltle
board. (Remove the grille net by gently pull-
ing it forward.) These controls allow 4 step adjustment
olthe high frequency response. lnastandard listening
room. optimum balance is obtained when these con-
trolsaresettotheOposition.Usethesecontrolsto
adjust speaker performance to the conditions of your
listening roomaswellasyourownpersonalpreferenoe.

Operation of these controls is as follows:

0 Set the "tone (bass. treble. etc.) control of the am-
plifier to the "flat position. If a "'filoudness "low fil~
ter". or high fitter" switch is provided on the ampli-
fier. switch them to the "o " position.

.Adjust the volume" control of the amplifier to the
normal listening volume.

.(a) For listening rooms with hard walls and bare
floors. sounds are highly reflective (reverberation
time is long) and may require a decrease in the
frequency response.

The HIGH control should be set to the 0 position for
iazz music. etc.. or to the -tor -2 position for classi
cal music. etc.

(b) For listening rooms with thickly carpeted floors
and heavy curtains. sounds are easily absorbed
(reverberation time is short) and may require an in-
Crease in the h h frequency response. The HIGH
controls should set to the + 1 position.

5. CARE

Wipe the cabinet with a soil cloth when it becomes
dusty. If it should get really dirty. dampen a soft cloth
in a weak solution of mild soap and water. wring it out
dry and wipe off. When finished. dry completely with a
soft dry cloth. Any volatile materials such as alcohol.
thinner. benzine. insecticides. etc. may remove the
paint or damage the luster and should not be used.
