Design Features:

To match the unprecedented. slim and compact
front panel. a totally electronic display is employed
using LED's for indicethn of both signal strength
and center tuning point. which is not only eye-
mtching but ensures easy visual tuning

The signal strength is displayed by LE D's. which
are effective for both FM and AM. 2 additional
LED's make it possible to tune in the exact center
frequency of the desired FM station.

FM Sonic Excellence:

For good sonic playback quality. special considera-
tion is given to the total circuitry.

The front end of special make employs a distortion»
free local oscillator and an RF amp stage composed
of the combination of a MOS PET and a quality
variable capacitor. which makes it possible to realize
superb interference and intermodulation reiection
characteristics. Also. clear reproduction is possible
even in the presence of signals having high electric
field strength.

The (F stage is so designed as to be inherently low
in distortion, but to make it perfect. a new
quadrature IC and a special detector transformer
combined in the F M detector stage to further reduce
distortion and provide high SIN ratio and a wider
bandwidth.

In the multiplex stage. in addition to the selected
low-noise PLL (C's offering good separation, Boole
low pass filters are placed independently in the
right and left channels to improve separation
characteristics. especially in the treble range. (C's
of operational amp are used in the audio stage to
lower the output impedance. which also achieves
low pop-up noise in combination with a transistor
muting circuit.

Special Consideration for Europe:

So called "birdie" interference noises which are
triggered by FM stations adjacent to the desired
one cannot be compleme eliminated.

To take care of such congestion of FM stations
in central Europe and to remove such annoying
noises. this unit is provided with a special 3~pole
anti-birdie filter to yield sharp attenuation of
ultra treble range exceeding lOOkl-lz. Also a 75-
ohm coaxial cable connector of CW standard is
added.

AM Reception:

The most up-todate techniques are employed for
pleasant AM reception as well. A newly developed
lC makes it possible to obtain strong AGC while
improving distortion and SIN ratio. Other features
are a ceramic filter of good selectivity. a loop stick
rotating antenna for optimum direction. etc.

LW Section (T-ZL):

Unlike conventional LW tuner. an independent
cirCuit is featured up to the convertor stage, which
improves such characteristics as sensitivity . image
ratio. input overload capability. etc. Also. to remove
thump noises at the time of selection between MW
and LW. an exclusive muting circuit is provided.
