How to configure the digital audio output

The DV-2070 has several initial setup functions that can be adjusted by the user. Although these can be
changed at any time, the video aspect ratio and the digital audio output should be configured before the play-
er is used for the first time. Flefer to page 41 of the instruction manual for complete initial setup instructions.

Changing the video aspect ratio

The Div-2070 is compatible with both standard (4:3) and widescreen (18:9) aspect ratio TVs. From the factory
theplayer is set to the-4:3,aspect ratio. If youre using the DV-2070 with a widesoreen TV you need to re-set the
players aspect ratio to 16:9 to match your TV.

What is aspect ratio?
The term aspect rat/0' refers to a TV screen '5 Width relative to its height. Conventional TVs have
an aspect ratio of 4.3 (they are 1.33 times wider than their height). Widescreen format TVs have a
16:9 aspect ratio {they are 1.77 times wider than their height). This wrder screen more closely
matches the wide aspect ratios that have been used in filmmaking since the early 19505.

LPCM (DVD): If you will be playing 24-bit/96kHz
audio DVDs, set LPCM (DVD) to OFF
(factory setting). This shuts-off the
DV-2070s digital outputs and uses its
internal D/A converters, so you must
connect the DV-2070s analog outputs
to your receiver or amplifier.

If you set LPCM (DVD) to PCM, 24-
bit/96kHz audio DVDs will be automat-
ically downconverted to a 20-bit/48kHz
digital signal and sent out via the digi-
tal output. The 24-bit/96kHz signal is
still converted to analog by the
DV-2070s internal D/A converters and
sent through its analog outputs.

Dolby Digital: If your system has a Dolby Digital
decoder, set Dolby Digital to BIT-
STREAM (factory setting). This will
send the Dolby Digital bitstream
through the digital output to the
decoder
If your system does not have a Dolby
Digital decoder, set Dolby Digital to
PCM.

dts: If your system has a DTS decoder, set
DTS to BITSTREAM (factory setting).
This will send the DTS bitstream
through the digital output to the
decoder
