The Tuner of Tomorrow is Here Today JVCs VT-7OO
Invest for the future as well as for the present.
JVC's all-new high performance VT-7OO FM/AM
Stereo Tuner not only provides great 2-channel
stereo pleasure today, but offers the added
attraCtion of built-in 4-channel reception capa-
bility for the future. IC and PET-equipped, it
stays on full alert for the day when 4schannel
broadcasts become commonplace.
Its 4-channel "stand-by status is made possible
by the inclusion of an FM detect or output
terminal, which can be put to instant service
when 4-channel stereo broadcaSting is begun
with the help of an SCA band. And in the
meantime, it offers unsurpassed reception of
conventional 2-channel FM stereo and AM
broadcasts.
In addition to the one PET and 4-gang tuning
capacitor in its FM frontend, the VT-700 has a
pair of lC's and four dual-resonator mechanical
filters in its lF section to attain such excellent
performance characteristics as 1.7;iV usable lHF
sensitivity, stereo separation of better than 38dB
at 1,000Hz and an MP capture ratio of 0.8dB.
Better yet, the tonal quality of the RF amplifier
is natural and transparent beyond comparison
with most previous tuners, permitting the lows,
midranges and highs - the whole range of scund
- to flow with exceptional smoothness and
fidelity.
Una-comm PM Section
Equipped with a Field Effect Transistor (FET),
the VT-700s FM tuner section minimizes harm-
ful cross modulation distortion, while a 4-gang
tuning capacitor permits an unprecedented
100dB in spurious signal rejection and 90dB
each in image rejection and IF rejection. Better
yet, the VT-700 realizes a capture ratio of
0.8dB, (which means interference-free operation
regardless of where it may be used) and IHF
sensitivity of 1.7}!V, which means it is able to
pull in distant FM stations with exceptional
clarity. The FM tuner is also complete with 2
terminals for a regular 300 it antenna and a 75 £2
Outdoor coaxial cable antenna should conditions
require it.

FM iF Amoiifla With Two 16: all 4 Contact
Film
The PM IF amplifier of the VT-700 makes use
of four dual element ceramic filters to cut out
unwanted frequency bands while ensuring quali-
ty reception of FM broadcasts. Since each of
these filters does the job of two ordinary
mechanical filters, however, the four are actual-
ly the equivalent of 8 such ordinary filters. They
not only provide for high selectivity, but greatly
improve tonal quality, and especially frequency
response. The FM tuners high selectivity is
evident even from the fact that a station only
400KH2 distant from the station being received
is attenuated by 70d8, as compared to 40 to
60dB claimed by almost all other receivers. The
frequency response of the FM tuner extends
from 20 to 15,000Hz within :1d8.
Lmortion FM Multiple-i Circuit
The FM multiplex circuit of the VT-700 keeps
total harmonic distortion to a negligible 0.5%, as
compared to 1.0% or so found on most receiv-
ers. The result is transparent, clear 50und.
FM Mulligan Hit. Blond Switch
In areas where FM stereo signals are too feeble
and disturbing high-frequency whistle noise
mixes with the broadcasts. Turn on this switch,
and the nouse is filtered out for surprisingly
clear, pleasant reception.
Two Tuning Motors, FM Lin-or Scale
Receivers equipped with only one signal
strength meter are difficult to tune exactly to a
strong station. But the VT-700 is equipped with
both a center-of-channel" meter and an ordina-
ry signal strength meter. Together, they make it
possible to tune in a station with pinpoint
accuracy regardless of how strong it may be,
achieving quality reception with minimal distor-
tion. In addition, the adoption of a frequency
linear tuning capacitor has allowed an evenly
graduated, so-called "linear" dial scale to be
incorporated for the FM band. This is not only
easier to the eye, but also helps in accurate
tuning. The AM tuner also boasts exceptional
sensitivity and selectivity.
Output Loni Control
An Output Level Control is provided on the
front panel to permit adjusting the level of
output signal in accordance with the input signal
strength and input sensitivity of the connected
amplifier.
Omar-cutter! Neil. Mining switch
A simple "flick-on-and-off switch on the front
panel activates the built-in muting circuit in the
VT-700 to suppress the unpleasant noise usually
heard between FM stations when tuning.
FM Dotoct Output Torménd
The VT-700 is equipped with an FM detect
Output terminal to prepare you for the day
when 4-channel FM broadcasts become
commonplace. When such broadcasts have
begun, simply connect a 4-channel decoder to
this terminal, and the broadcast signals will be
decoded into four discrete channels to be fed
into the front and rear channel amplifiers of a
4-channel amplifier-such as the JVC
4VN-7 70-and two pairs of speaker systems.
Smooth Tuning Mock-mm
A big flywheel and a relatively friction-free dial
mechanism join the exceptionally long dial
feature in enabling easy, pinpoint tuning.
Two Pam of Output Jan
The VT700 is complete with two pairs of
output jacks. One is a variable type whose signal
level can be controlled by the front-panel
output level control and which is convenient for
connection to your amplifier, while the other is
a fixed-level type for connecting a tape recorder.
AC Oulot Socket
The AC socket on the rear panel has a power
capacity of 300 watts and is convenient for
powering a tape deck, turntable or especially an
FM 4-channel decoder in the future.
Montana FM Mmeinds
Both 300 Q balanced and 7512 unbalanced FM
antenna terminals are provided on the VT-700s
rear panel, making it possible to connect either
regular feeder cable antenna or the more expen-
sive coaxial cable.
Distinctive Styiin'
The VT-700 offers dimensions and distinctive
styling to match other JVC stereo components.
Faced in sophisticated black, the tuner is as
pleasant to the eye as it is to the ear, with its
switches and controls conveniently arranged on
the front panel for easy, fool-proof operation.
