PREPARATIONS
Do not connect the power cord to the AC outlet until connec-
tions are completed.
Unpacking and Setting up

Remove the vinyl ribbon 0 fixing the tonearm.
Remove the screw 9 to dismount the spacer 0 and the
counter-weight 0
Remove the screws 0 0 and spacers 0 a
. Slide the counterweight 0 onto the weight axis by turning
the counterweight to "A" direction, as in Fig. 2.
. Place the platter mat on the platter.
. Cartridge mounting '
Remove the headshell from the tonearm by loosening the
screw. Connect the four lead wires on the cartridge you
have selected. Cartridge lead wires are usually colour-
coded as described on page 5. Mount the cartridge on the
headshell with the two screws and nuts loosely for easier
overhang adjustment. (Refer to Cartridge mounting" on
page 5.)
. Headshell mounting
Insert the cartridge-equipped headshell into the recep-
tacle of the tonearm and fasten the screw.
ADJUSTMENT

Remove the stylus cover from the stylus. (Fig. 3)
Turn the anti-skating knob to make its 0" mark aligned
with the index mark. (Fig. 4)
Slide the counterweight to the middle of the weight shaft
and turn until the tonearm is balanced with the stylus posi-
tion nearly touching the record surface. (Fig. 5)
. Hold the counterweight at the adjusted position and turn
the tracking force dial until the "0" mark is aligned with
the index line on the tonearm weight shaft. (Fig. 6)
*Take care not to turn the counterweight from
the adjusted position, otherwise correct tracking force
will not be obtained.
. Turn the counterweight in the direction shown in sequence
0-1-2 until the 1 .75 (JVC 2-1 8) mark on the dial cap
is aligned with the index line. (Fig. 7)
*Be careful not to touch the dial cap when turning the
counterweight.
*Turning the dial cap alone has no effect on the tracking
force.
. Turn the anti-skating knob until the Index mark points to
"1.75" (JVC Z-1S) mark on the knob. (Fig. 8)
Use the o marked dial when employing a spherical stylus.
Use the . marked dial for an elliptical stylus.
