6. Listening angle indicators
These indicate the angle formed by the
two speakers with the listener at the
apex. The angles in this illustration do
not accurately depict real angles.

FUNCTION selector

BINAURAL v BIPHONIC

Set to this position when a binaural tape
or record disc is played back through the
speakers.

STEREO » EXPAND

Set to this position to acoustically extend
the speaker positions when listening to an
ordinary stereo tape, record disc, or stereo
FM broadcast.

PASS

Set to this position to bypass the process~
ing circuit of BN-S without disconnecting
the unit when playing back ordinary re-
cordings. Even in the PASS position, the
multipoint peak level indicators (5) func-
tion, thus permitting the 8N-5 to be used
as a peak level indicator, when recording
tapes.

8. LISTENING ANGLE selectors

The position of a listener in relation to the
speakers is very important for optimum
Biphonic or expansion effects. To select
the most suitable angle (30°, 45° or 60°)
estimate the listening angle visually when
sitting on the center line between the
speakers. The listening angle indicators (6)
also point out the angle set by the
selector.

Hominkel-Anzeigen

Damit wird der Winkel angezeigt, der von den
zwei Lausprechern und dem Horer im Scheitel-
punkt gebildet wird. Die Winkel bei dieser
Darstellung entsprechen nicht exakt den
tatsachlichen Winkeln.

Eingangswahler (FUNCTION)

BINAURAL b BIPHONIC

Stellen Sie den wahler auf diese Position, wenn
Sie ein binaurales Band oder eine binaurale
Schallplatte fiber Lautsprecher wiedergeben.
STEREO » EXPAND

Stellen Sie den Wéhler auf diese Position, wenn
Sie beim Abhoren eines normalen Stereo-
bandes, einer Schallplatte oder einer UKW-
Stereosendung die Lage der Lautsprecher
akustisch ausdehnen wollen.

PASS

Stellen Sie den Wéhler auf diese Position, um
die Funktionsschaltung des BN-5 beim
Abspielen von normalen Aufnahmen zu iiber-
briicken, ohne die Verbindung mit dem Gerat
zu Ibsen. Auch wenn der W'a'hler auf PASS
gestellt ist, arbeitet die mehrstellige Pegel-
spitzenanzeige (5). Der BN-S kann somit auch
als Pegelspitzenanzeige bei Aufnahme von Ton-
béndern verwendet werden.

Hérwinkel-Wiihler (LISTENING ANGLE)

Die Position des Horers in Beziehung zu den
Lautsprechern ist sehr wichtig fiir einen
optimalen BIPHONIC- oder Ausdehnungs-
Effekt. Zum Auswéhlen des geeignetsten
Winkels (30°,45° oder 60°) schatzen Sie,wenn
Sie auf der Mittellinie zwischen den beiden
Lautsprechern sitzen, den Horwinkel per
Augenmafs ab. Die H'orwinkel-Anzeigen (6)
zeigen ebenfalls den am wahler eingestellten
Winkelan.

Reg/er a cette position paur étendre acous-
tiquement les positions des haut-parleurs lors
de I'écoute'd'une bande stéréo ardinaire, dun
disque ou dune retransmission FM stéréo.
PASS

Reg/er a cette position pour dériver le circuit de
traitement du Bill-5 sans déconnecter Iappareil
lors de la reproduction denregistrement
ordinaire. Meme dens Ia position PASS les
indicateurs de niveau de créte a points multi-
ples (5) fonctionnent, donc permettant au
BN-5 detre utilisé comme un indicateur de
niveau de crete, lors de l'enregistrement de
bandes.

La position de Iauditeur par rapport aux
haut-parleurs est tre's importante pour obtenir
les meilleurs effets BIPHONIC ou dexpan-
sion. Pour sé/ectionner l'angle approprié (30°,
45°, ou 60° ), estimer visuellement Iangle
découte en étant assis sur la Iigne centrale
entre les haut-parleurs. Les indicateurs de
I'angle découte (6) indiquent langle reg/é par
les sélecteurs.
