The JBL 2142H Coaxial Transducer
represents the results of JBLs intenr
sive research into the performance
and applications of coaxial transr
ducers intended for engineered
sound applications. To achieve maxir
mum power handling while main
taining wide bandwidth and consis
tent dispersion in several critical HF
octave bands, JBL engineers develr
oped a new size and configuration
44 mm (1175 in) highrfrequency trans
ducer, incorporating a pure titanium
dome with JBLs patented diamond
surround for control over secondary
resonances.

The low frequency driver combines
a rugged diercast frame with a spe
cially designed cone and 51 mm (2 in)
Voicercoil motor structure that oper
rates in tandem with the HF element
to sustain smooth system response
and stable dispersion through the
crossover regionr

An integral transformer mounting
bracket, builtrin provisions for quick
biramplifier hookups, and a special
snaproff network access cover are all
designed to reduce contractor fabricar
tion time in the shop and installer
placement time at the site

In response to consultant and cone
tractor requests, the JBL 2142H was
designed to perform well in the most
commonlyrspecified utility metal
enclosure and baffle combinations,
despite the generally detrimental
acoustical properties of those enclor
