Welcome to the next generation of electrostatic sound from Janszen. The Z series of electrostatic loudspeaker
systems was designed to dispel two myths of electrostatic design-those of efficiency and dispersion The
efficiency of the. 2-2 is 6 dB greater than that of our previous systems (approximately twice the sound pressure
level with equal amounts of input power). This feature alone makes the 2-2 more readily useable with lower
powered receivers rather than their higher output, more expensive counterparts. Dispersion is greatly increased
thmugh the use of a refraction lens system. In addition, bi-polar radiation of the electrostatic drivers adds
reflected enemy to direct energy to give the Z a spacious concert hall realism coupled to the unmatched clarity
and detail of the electrostatics.

We beliwe that it is a generally accepted fact among knowledgeable people and technical experts, and by the
laws of physics, that it is not possible for any transducer other than the ekctrostatic to achieve the ultimate
goal: truly accurate sound reproduction.

Electrostatic Array

The electrostatic elements used in the Janszen
Z- feature an ultra thin film as a diaphragm.
which has a mass several magnitudes less than
the mass of a conventional tweeter's diaphragm.
According to Newtons Law of Accelleration.
the diaphragm or cone. as it is sometimes
called, with the least mass will react faster to
the applied signal. Hence. the Janszen
transducer exhibits incomparable transient
response. Furthermore. the signal from the
amplifier applied to the element is evenly
distributed over the entire radiating surface of
the diaphragm. Thus. all points of the
diaphragm move in absolute unison. virtually
eliminating any non-linear distortions. By
contrast. the conventional dynamic tweeter is
driven only at the center of the diaphragm.
Since not all the points of the diaphragm are
directly adjacent to the center. many non-linear
movements are present on the diaphragm.
resulting in significantly higher non-linear
distortion than the electrostatic. Additionally,
srnce the high frequency limit of any speaker is
directly related to the mass or weight of its
diaphragm. the lighter diaphragm will, by the
laws of physics. exhibit an extended frequency
response. The Janszen Electrostatic transducer
is so much lighter and less massive than its
dynamic counterpart that it has infinitely
superior high frequency characteristics and
transient response. It is upon all of the
principles that the Janszen Electrostatic
transducer excels. and it is considered by most
to be the standard of comparison for high
frequency reproduction.

Low Frequency Transducer

We matched our new electrostatic array with a
new design 2 woofer system. This new woofer
utilizes a specially designed frame and
diaphragm assembly. which permits extremely
long excursion of the diaphragm without any
mechanical interference. thereby ensuring total
freedom of diaphragm movement. This long
excursion. coupled with a high performance
motor assembly. achieves a considerably higher
efficiency than found in most acoustic
suspension designs-higher efficiency without
the loss of deep bass response normally
associated with higher efficiency designs of this
size woofer enclosure.

Aesthetic Design

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the Z series
is the aesthetic design. The increasingly popular
tower concept lends itself ideally to achieving
an acoustically open enclosure for the wide
dispersing electrostatic array of the 2. an
enclosure free of acoustical obstructions. The
wire frame cage serves as the protection to the
electrostatic array.

The electrostatic array is covered with a special
acoustically transparent stretch cloth.

We feel the Z series is a major step forward in
loudspeaker design. Electrostatics have long
been held the ultimate in sound reproduction.
We have captured this ultimate sound
reproduction in a very pleasing aesthetic design
concept and coupled it with higher efficiency
and broader dispersion. We invite you to
audition the Janszen 2-2 at any franchised
Janszen Electrostatic dealer.
