ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Your new HAFLER Model 200 Loudspeakers were designed and manufactured to achieve a high level of. .
sonic performance. We are confident that the Model 200 Loudspeakers will serve you well as the final link In
your audio system. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact our facilities.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The HAFLER Model 200 Loudspeaker systems are equipped with removable cloth grilles. To remove the
grille assemblies. gently pull out one corner and slowly work off the other three corners. To replace the grille
assemblies, align the nylon male/female fasteners and gently tap on each corner.

\Mth the grilles removed, you will notice that the Model 200 Loudspeakers operate as a mirror imaged pair.
Correct positioning places the high frequency driver (which is on the same side as the HAFLER logos) to
the outside, relative to the listening area. Proper right/left configuration is critical for optimum sonic
performance.

A purchase registration card has been included with your Model 200 Loudspeakers. Please complete the
card and return It to our facilities. The Model 200 Loudspeakers are covered under a five year limited
warranty.

HAFLER recommends that all packaging be kept for future use. The carton is easily flattened by slitting the
tape on both ends. It can then be re-taped for transporting the speakers.

PORT PLUG .

The POFIT PLUG . included with the Model 200 Loudspeaker systems. is used to prevent the
enclosure/port tuning effect. This may be desirable when matching the Model 200 Loudspeakers with
additional low frequency systems (subwoofers) or loading them into corners (see section on placement).

When using additional low frequency systems, the Model 200 loudspeakers are not required to reproduce
low frequencies and should be used with a high pass crossover. Depending on the type of crossover and
the crossover frequency, the port output may still be present and contribute to the overall system
response.

The PORTPLUG eliminates the tuned output and effectively seals the enclosure. Therefore, reducing the
low frequency output and providing an air spring for the low frequency driver. The air spring provides a back
pressure to the woofer and reduces its motion which results in an increase in the ability to handle large low
frequency transients.

Normally, the Model 200 Loudspeakers should be used without the PORT PLUG. Use the PORT PLUG
when the above situations arise. Although using the PORT PLUG in the normal mode of operation will not
damage the Model 200 Loudspeakers, the tonal balance will be affected.

WIRING

Maintaining proper polarity when wiring the speakers is important. Improper wiring will degrade the sonic
performance of your audio system. Low frequency output will be mostly affected due to phase cancellation. .
The input terminal is clearly marked denoting plus (+) as red and minus H as black. Maintaining the

plus/minus convention throughout your system will ensure proper performance. As a quick check, reverse

the polarity of one speaker and listen to the result.
