2 XOBP12D PREPARATION Getting Started Safety This symbol is intended to alert the user to the presence of important instr uctions. F ailur e to heed these instructions can r esult in injury or damage to the unit. To prevent injury and damage to the unit, please r ead and follow the instr uctions in this manual. If y ou feel unsur e about installing this system y ourself, hav e it installed by a qualified audio technician. Befor e installation, disconnect the battery negativ e (-) terminal to pr event damage to the unit, fir e and/or possible injury . Do not connect Amplifier or any audio sour ce to illumination inputs. These inputs ar e designed for 12 volt power only. Thank you for purchasing the Dual Electronics XOBP12D Bandpass Subwoofer System. Although Dual has attempted to mak e sur e all of the information contained within this manual is accurate, please be aware that any part of it is subject to ch\ ange without notice. Illuminite inputs are designed for 12 volt DC power source only. Do NOT connect your illuminite product directly to your battery permanently, as it will cause your battery to discharge. Please use switched 12 volt source.

3 XOBP12D INSTALLATION Installation The following installation instr uctions are very basic. If y ou feel unsur e about personally installing this speak er system, Dual recommends aquiring the services of a professional car audio installation center. Before installation, please reviewthe following rules: 1. Be sur e to car efully r ead and understand the instr uctions befor e attempting to install this pr oduct. 2. For safety , disconnect the negativ e terminal fr om the battery prior to beginning the installation. 3. For easier assembly: I f additional wiring is r equir ed, we recommend running all wir es prior to mounting y our speak er in place. 4. Use the highest quality connectors for a r eliable installation and to minimize signal or power loss. 5. Use caution befor e y ou drill or cut! Be car eful not to cut or drill into gas tanks, fuel lines, br ake or hydr aulic lines, vacuum lines or electrical wiring when working on any v ehicle. 6. Ne ver r un speak er wir es under neath y our v ehicle. Running speak er wir es inside the v ehicle pr ovides the best pr otection fr om exhaust heat and envir onmental elements. 7. Avoid r unning wir es ov er, near , or thr ough sharp edged surfaces. W e suggest y ou also use r ubber gr ommets to pr otect any wir es r outed thr ough metal, especially the fir ewall. 8. When r unning the speak er cable fr om the amplifier , avoid r unning it near sour ces of high curr ent (i.e. wiring har nesses, battery cables). 9. Amp connection: T he positiv e (+) speak er output fr om the bass amp connects to the positiv e (+) terminal, and the negativ e output (-) connects to the negativ e (-) input terminal on the input cup located on the r ear of the subwoofer enclosure . DO NO T CONNECT AMP OR ANY A UDIO SOURCE T O ILLUMINA TION INPUTS AS D AMA GE T O LIGHTS WILL OCCUR. 10. Illumination connection: T he positiv e (+) output fr om y our 12V system connects to the positiv e (+) input, and the negativ e (gr ound) connects to the negativ e (-) input on the input cup located on the r ear of the subwoofer enclosure. Impr oper 12V polarity will not cause damage to the lights, but they will not illuminate.
