Recording preparation

Unpacking and installation

Remove the unit and all accessory parts from the shipping car-
ton. Please keep the original packing material asthey may be
needed later should you wish to transport the unit.

Now carefully place the platter onto the motor shaft.

Insert the stem of the counterweight into the rear end of the
tonearm. Ensure that the V-shaped groove in the stem is
pointing downwards (Fig. 1).

Below you will find a description of the procedures necessary
to set the tuning anti-resonator (if the counterweight of your
unit is fitted with one), balance the tonearm and set the
tracking force and the anti-skating force.

Please refer to the separate data sheet containing information
on the required tracking force for the cartridge fitted to your
turntable.

Cartridge

If you purchased the turntable without cartridge, please refer
first to "Installing1/2"cartridges"on page 11 and follow these
instructions carefully.

Tuning anti-resonator

Depending on the unit you have purchased, the counterbalance
of your HiFi turntable may be equipped with a tuning anti-
resonator (Fig. 2). If this is the case, take note of the following
information.

Adjustment of the Tunable Anti-Resonator

The tunable anti-resonator permits optimum compatibility of
the tonearm with any cartridge to be used.

The antiresonator can be used for Dual ULM cartridges as well
as other 1/ " cartridges. For correct adjustment of the tunable
antiresonator please refer to the table below which lists the
most essential Specifications of factory-mounted Dual ULM
cartridges as well as those of other popular 1/ " models.

To obtain the correct setting for cartridges not listed in this
table. please refer to the diagram enclosed. First find the total
cartridge weight on the horizontal scale, proceed from this
point in vertical direction upward to the corresponding com-
pliance line. Transfer the reading obtained to the vertical scale
which shows the optimum anti-resonator setting.

Please refer to the cartridge manufacturers data sheet for net
weight and compliance (vertical) of your cartridge model, then
add the weigit of the hardware (screws, Spacers, nuts, washers).
The net weight of Dual ULM cartridges is equal to the'r total weid'it
To adjust the tunable anti-resonator rotate thedial ring in clock-
wise direction until the calculated setting appears above the index
marking .(Fig. 2), while holding the stem with the other hand.

Attention To lock the tunable anti-resonator during transport
of your turntable. turn the damping selector past "15" beyond
the wedge-shaped index mark until it locks (Fig. 3).
