distortion present in the signal, the battery is
probably used up and needs to be replaced.

a it is a good idea to keep a fresh battery in the
battery compartment while youre playing the FX 35
so that even it the A. C. adapter should accidentally
come out. your FX 35 will continue to work.

in Unauthorized repair of the FX 35 will void the
warranty. Should your Octoplus require service,
contact your DOD FX pedal dealer for return/repair
information.

WHAT THE FX 35 OCTOPLUS DOES

The Ex 35 Octoplus generates a signal one octave
below the input signal, allowing guitarists to play
bass lines or to fill out" or add body" to the sound.
(NOTE: The FX 35 is for playing single notes only.)

CONNECTING THE FX 35

Connect the lNPUT oi the FX 35 to your guitar (or to
the output of a compressor/sustainer if youre using
one) with a 1/: inch mono phone plug. To eliminate
the need for a 9 volt battery, attach either the DOD
PS-S or the DOD FX 105 power supply to the 3.5mm
AC. adapter jack.

the pick up farthest from the bridge of your guitar

FEATURES

The EX 35 adds a lower octave signal to the original signal.
Single lines can be thickened or body added with a
careful mixing of the original signal (DlRECT LEVEL)
with the generated lower octave signal (OCTAVE
LEVEL). The TONE control modifies the sound or
only the lower octave signal, adiustable to your taste
tor a more oleasing sound.

The Ex 35 Octoplus also features:

I FET switching for "cllckless" insertion into the
signal path.

I LED indicator shows the status of the effect and
battery condition.

I No tools, easy access battery compartment.

I Adapter lack for A. C. operation

CONTROLS

OCTAVE LEVEL: Adjusts the level of the generated
lower octave signal to the output. Turning the
OCTAVE LEVEL control clockwise 0 increases the
amount of the generated lower octave signal going
to the output. When the control is fully
counterclockwise none of the generated lower octave
signal is sent to the output,

TONE: Modifies the tone or sound of only the
generated lower octave signal. When the TONE
control is straight up, the octave signal is
unchanged. Turning the TONE control clockwise O
boosts the upper frequencies of the octave signal.
and turning the TONE control counterclockwise O
boosts the lower frequencies of the octave signal.

DIRECT LEVEL: Adjusts the level of the input signal
allowed to pass through to the output. Turning the
DIRECT LEVEL control clockwise O increases the
amount at the original signal going to the output of
the FX 35. When the control is fully
counterclockwise none of the original signal is sent
to the output.

FOGT SWITCH: Switches the octave effect lN/OUT of
the signal path,

LED lNDlCATOFl: Lights on when the octave effect is
enabled.

JACKS: lNPUT. OUTPUT, AC. ADAPTER. (Use either
the DOD PS-S or DOD FX 105 power supply to
eliminate the need for batteries.)

OPERATION OF THE FX 35

The secret to making the FX 35 sound its best is to
keep the original signal and octave signal almost
equal in strength. Turning the DIRECT LEVEL control
clockwise 0 increases the amount of the original
signal going to the output of the FX 35, Turning the
OCTAVE LEVEL control clockwise O increases the

amount of the generated lower octave signal going
to the output. Adjust the OCTAVE LEVEL for the
amount of body you wish to add to the sound. With
these two controls the mix or the original signai and
octave signal is adjusted.

Using the FX 35 to add body to the sound

To play bass lines with the FX 35; turn the DIRECT
LEVEL control almost all the way clockwise O . so
that most or the original signal goes to the output:
and adiust the OCTAVE LEVEL control by turning it
all the way clockwise O . Adjust the TONE control
clockwise C) from the 12 oclock position, until the
desired sound of the lower octave tone is achieved.
The mix of the original signal adds brightness or
intelligibility to the line.

Using the FX 35 to play bass lines

A flanger or a chaser. like the DOD FX ?5 Stereo
Hanger or the DOD FX 208 Stereo Phasor. will and
increased tonal character to the sound of the FX 35.
Try different effects on the lower octave signal and
listen to the results. You may even want to try
splitting the original and the octave signal and
process each differently with different effects and
amps.
