The Counterpoint DArlO; The
Most Advanced Technology. The
Most Musical. And the Best Value.

n Vienna, where they live and breathe music, a

survey of 17 of the world's most advanced D to

A convertors was done by noted musicologist
Dr. Ludwig Flich. Two were Reference Class. The
Counterpoint DA-IO, and another convertor costing
seven times as much as the DAIO. In Japan, that
same D to A Convertor was named Component of
the Year. Then, the DAle was chosen for Design
and Engineering Honors by the Consumer
Electronics Shows. And the latest award for this
piece is BEST BUY" from International Audio
Review.

The DA-IO is a six«input digital to analog convertor.
Besides two digital tape loops with full dubbing, a
digital phase invertor, muting, and a lamp to indicate
good input signal, the DAle comes equipped with a
front panel adjustable Most Significant Bit (MSB)
adjustment. This piece is a true Digital Studio!
Using a totally discrete analog stage-as well a total-
1y discrete current to voltage stage-the DA-IOs
analog stage is DC-coupled and servo corrected to
prevent DC offset. It uses a passive thirdeorder
Bessel anti-aliasing filter for minimum ringing and
best group delay.

We Won't Let Technology
Pass You By

The DA-IO is unique in that it comes with your
choice of DAC cards. This means that you choose
the sound best for your system and budget, much the
same way as phono cartridges are interchangeable.
Currently available cards utilize Analog Devices,
Crystal Semiconductor, Philips and UltraAnalog
DAC's. And as newer and better DAC's are devel~
oped, Counterpoint will make them available to you.

The Counterpoint DA-l 1;

Because a D to A Convertor is no
better than the digital data fed to it.

t long last, a Counterpoint CD trans-

port! Introducing many special features,

including the fact that it is of audio
purist quality, yet has a uservfriendly frontvloading
mechanism. And what a front loader! The tray is
made entirely of machined aluminum for maximum
mechanical integrity. Of course, the front panel and
all switches are also of machined aluminum.
enhancing its spectacular slimline appearance.
Special supension techniques are used for optimiz-
ing acoustical isolation.

A precision low'jitter master clock (rather than
several unrelated individual digital clock oscilla-
tors) is used to eliminate low-level interference.
High~speed asynchronous FIEO memory assures
that the neccessarily varying input and output data
signals do not modulate each other-which other!
wise would interfere with the beat and rhythm of
the music-and each digital integrated circuit has
its own regulated power supplywan absolute
requirement for high~purity digital data. But we've
not forgotten the Real World: each DA-Il offers
ST glass optical, SC (TosLink) plastic optical, two
BNC electrical outputs~one floated and one
direct-and an AES/EBU balanced output.

With the Quality You Expect

Like all Counterpoints, this new CD transport
comes with a three year limited, transferrable ware
ranty. And our toll-free customer service to assist
you. And, like all Counterpoints, is available in
your choice of black or silver front panels. But what
may suprise is the price. Its an incredible value,
even for Counterpoint!
