SAU4 Pick-up Arm

The prime objective of this arm is to reduce the effective mass to a minimum. Also, the friction of the pivot, both
lateral and vertical. must be extremely low and viscous damped. This damping allows greater control of arm resonance,
to cope with high-compliance cartridges now on the market. The counter balance weight is decoupled from the arm
assembly. The pick-up arm signal wires are extremely light so as to avoid unwanted side pressures which will affect
good bias control. Bias pressure is applied by a ny'on thread and weight. Three weights are supplied, of different sizes,
so a combination can be used to cover all requirements. A lateral outrigger with a fine threaded arm and weight allows
exact balance of the arm on the unipivot to be achieved. A ball spirit level is mounted above the unipivot mounting
to give a visual indication when exact balance is obtained. The down force is applied by a sliding weight on the arm
tube, and this is calibrated from O to 4 grams. A lightweight metal headshell is fitted as standard. this being detachable.
Cartridges of V2" fixing centre can be accommodated, and a protractor is supplied to set for minimum tracking error.
An arm lift is provided which is viscous damped. The top of the quadrant arm is fitted with a special rubber pad to
avoid drift when the arm is raised and lowered. Only a single hole fixing is required to mount the pick-up arm to the
turntable platform.
