DESCRIPTION

The Bogen Model MX30A is a 30 watt professional
quality. self-contained preamp-amplifier-mixer. It is
designed for use in theatres, radio stations. recording
studios, and all quality public address installations.

The amplifier provides five microphone inputs.
four of which may be used with either high or low im-
pedance MICS. The fifth input will accommodate either
a high-impedance microphone or a magnetic phonotape
head input. Input 6 will accommodate two high-level,
high-impedance auXiIiary inputs. such as a ceramic
phono cartridge or tape recorder. A front panel control
permits fadingbetween these inputs. All Six inputs may
be mixed and faded. and the volume of each may be
controlled individually or Simultaneously with the mas-
ter volume control. There is a bridging input which ac-
cepts inputs from a higlrlevel source With its own level
Control. The bridging input may be mixed with the other
inputs, but it cannot be individually controlled at the
amplifier.

Each of the five microphone input channels is
equipped with a music-speech filter switch, which may
be set to prayide a fixed. low-frequency attenuation for
the particular input. This selective filtering helps to
overcome poor room acoustics and increases speech
intelligibility by improving individual microphone re-
sponse.

All input channels, except the bridging input, may
be prowded with remote volume control or microphone

POWER OUTPUT: 30 watts at less than 2%
distortion.

FREQUENCY RESPONSE:
38 KHz.

POWER RESPONSE: 2le db from 30 watts be-
tween 21 Hz and 30 KHz at 5% distortion.

HUM AND NOISE (Below vat-d output): AUX 80
db, MIC 70 db, MAG 65 db.

GAIN (Band on 5000 input impedance): AUX
+80 db, MIC +115 db, MAG +120 db.

SENSITIVITY: AUX 0.15 V, MIC 3.5 mv (Hi Z),
MAG 2 mv.

BRIDGING INPUT SENSITIVITY: 5.8 volts.

BRIDGING OUTPUT: 0.62 volts (across 1 Meg II).

DRIVER OUTPUT: 2 volts.

DAMPING FACTOR: Better than 4 to l.

REGULATION: 2 db.

INPUTS: 4 MIC (convert to low-impedance with
T50, T200, T500, TMSU, TM200 or 'I'MSOO
transformers). Input 5 for 1 MIC (high-
impedance) or 1 MAG phone (or tape head).
INPUT 6 for 2 AUX high-level, high-imped-
ance inputs. Bridging input for high-imped-
ance or 6000 balanced telephone line with
optional WMT-l transformer.

precedence control. This is accomplished by using
Bogen accessories SR-2. SR4 and RVC-2 remote vol-
ume controls and the LVP-l limiter.

Another Bogen accessory, the WMT-l transformer,
enables the MX30A amplifier to accept inputs from a
balanced 500 600 ohm telephone line, such as a Muzak
transmission cable. The input, at zero level, is fed into
one of the two auxiliary receptacles on the amplifier.
The WMT-l transformer is also used to feed the output
of the MX30A amplifier to a 500/600-ohm line.

An optional accessory. the MMS-l panel, consisting
of an outwt level meter. a speaker and a volume con-
trol, permits the operator to monitor the output level of
the amplifier both by eye and ear. A model MSK-l mon-
itoring panel With Speaker only is also available.

In addition to standard 4, 8 and 16-ohm output
speaker taps, constant voltage balanced 25-volt and
70-volt lines are available at the output to simplify
line matching. The uitput may also be fed to a tele-
phone line by connecting the WMT»1 as a bridging ac-
cessory across the 25-volt line.

The MX30A amplifier may be paralleled with one
o: more Bogen M030A booster amplifiers to increase
the output in multiples of 30 watts. It may also be par-
alleled With another MX3OA amplifier to double the
number of input channels and increase the output
power.

CONTROLS: 4 individual MIC volume (each with
speech filter switch). INPUT 5 volume
(with speech filter switch). INPUT 6
volume (AUX 1, AUX 2 fader type). POWER
switch. MIC 1 thru MIC 4 selector switches
(hiyi 0r low impedance). Input 5 switch
(selects MIC S Mgr-impedance or MAG/
TAPE. LIMITER SENSITIVITY (screw-
driver adjust).

TONE CONTROL ACTION: Treble, -14 db to +12
db at IOkI-{z Bass, -9 to +13 db at 50 Hz

OUTPUTS: 4, 8 and 16 Q balanced, 25V balanced
(20.8 9), 70 V balanced (163 I2).

POWER CONSUMPTION: 120 watts.

TUBES AND RECTIFIERS: Two 7868, three 7247,
three 12AX7A, five silicon diodes.
