2 Installation and Settings To install your SAM phono module please disconnect the SAM from the mains. Carefully open the upper housing plate. Please set the both blue "jumpers" near the socket labeled "1" to the opposite position then being shipped (facing away from each other). Now the SAM is ready to be upgraded by the phono module. Insert the module carefully into the pin arrays up to the mounting bolds. Secure the module with both the provided nuts. For further setting up please leave open the housing of your SAM. Please make sure which type of pick-up you use and which specifications were recommended by the manufacturer. If any doubt stick to the settings for "MM pick-ups". The factory default settings of your SAM phono module are suitable for most MC pick-ups: 58 dB, 110pF, 470W (s. below). For MM pick-ups your phono module is to be set to a gain of 38dB. The input resistance and capacity may vary. Place the both jumpers in the middle of the module to position "38". Input resistance and capacity can be set up by using the jumper arrays on the left side of the module. The possible values are printed in clear onto the module. For using 68kW input resistance please remove the corre- sponding jumpers. If you got no specifications from the manufacturer for your pick-up please use the positions 47kW and 220pF. These setting are suitable for most MM pick-ups. Mounting Settings MM pick-ups

3 Output voltages of MC pick-ups can vary within a wide range. To adapt the output level to your other sources the Audionet phono module offers 3 different gain settings. For pick-ups with average output levels (approx. 0.3mV) please set the jumper at the middle of the module to position 58dB. Using pick-ups with higher output levels (approx. 0.8mV) set jumpers to position 48dB. If you connect a pick-up with lower output levels (< 0.1mV) use position 68dB. If you are in doubt of the output voltages of your pick-up try using position 58dB first. The input capacity should be selected to 110pF. Please refer to the manu- facturer's specifications for the input resistance or, if in doubt, set jump- ers to position 100W. Connect your analog transport to the sockets labeled "1" at the back of the SAM. In most of the cases it is necessary to additionally earth the transport by using the screw labeled "GND" at the back panel of your SAM. Please not use any tools to tighten the screw! Please reinsert the upper plate of the housing. After switching on the SAM your phono module is ready to use. But a warming up phase of about 15 minutes will improve the sound.
