11. HEAD CLEANING

For quality performance it is imperative (ha! tape recorder heads be kept neat and clean at all times.
Dust and magnetic particles lrom the tape tend to deposit on the heads alter prolonged use of the recorder
This results in poor head-to-tape contact deteriorating sound quality and sensitivity.
Worse strIl such dust causes drastic drops in recording/playback
levels and nullilies high quality sound.

Make it a rule to clean the heads every time you use your tape recorder.
AKAI's Head Cleaning Kit (Accessory NO. H0500) is recommended lo! re-
moving ioreign matter deposited on the heads. ll this kit is not available,
use alcohol.
NOTE: Clean the heads aiter setting the RECORD/PLAYBACK LEVER to
"PLAV".
