PRECAUTIONS

Read the Operating Instructions carefully and completely before
operating the unit. Be sure to keep the Operating Instructions for
future reference. All warnings and cautions in the Operating
Instructions and on the unit should be strictly followed, as well as
the safety suggestions below.

1 Water and moisture - Do not use this unit nearwater, such as
near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a wet
basement, swimming pool, or the like.
2 Heat - Do not use this unit near sources of heat, including
heating vents, stoves. or other appliances that generate heat.
it also should not be placed in temperatures less than 50
(41"F) or greater than 35C (95'F).
3 Mounting surface - Place the unit on a flat, even surface.
4 Ventilation -The unit should be situated with adequate space
around it sothat properheat ventilation is assured, Allow mom
(4 in.) clearance from the rear and the top of the unit, and 5 cm
(2 in.) from the each side.
- Do not place the unit on a bed, rug, orsimilarsurface that may
block the ventilation openings.
» Do not install the unit in a bookcase, cabinet, or airtight rack
where ventilation may be impeded.
5 Oblects and liquid entry -Take carethat objects or liquids do
not get inside the unit through the ventilation openings.

6 Carts and stands - When placed or
mounted on a stand or cart, the unit
should be moved with care.
Quick stops, excessive force, and un-
even surfaces may cause the unit or
cart to overturn or fall.
7 Condensation - Moisture may form on the CD pickup lens
when:
- The unit is moved from a cold spot to a warm spot
- The heating system hasjust been turned on
- The unit is used in a very humid room
- The unit is cooled by an air conditioner
When this unit has condensation inside, it may not function
normally. Should this occur, leave the unit for afew hours, then
try to operate again.
8 Wall or ceiling mountlng -The unitshould not be mounted on
a wall or ceiling, unless specified in the Operating Instructions.

Electric Power

1 Power sources - Use on batteries or AC house current, as
specified in the Operating Instructions and marked on the unit.

2 Polarization e As a safety feature, some units are equipped
with polarized AC power plugs which can only be inserted one
way into a poweroutlet. If it is difficult or impossibleto insertthe
AC power plug into an outlet, turn the plug over and try again.
If it still does not easily insert into the outlet, please call a
qualified service technician to sen/ice or replace the outlet. To
avoid defeating the safety feature oi the polarized plug. do not
force it into a power outlet.

3 Ac power cord
- When disconnecting the AC power cord. pull it out by the AC

power plug, Do not pull the cord itself.

- Never handle the AC power plug with wet hands, as this could
result in fire or shock.

- Power cords should be routed to avoid being severely bent,
pinched, or walked upon. Pay particular attention to the cord
from the unit to the power socket,

- Avoid overloading AC power plugs and extension cords
beyond their capacity. as this could result in fire or shock.

4 Extension cord -To help prevent electric shock, do not use a
polarized AC power plug with an extension cord. receptacle, or
other outlet unless the polarized plug can be completely in-
serted to prevent exposure of the blades of the plug.

5 When not in use - Unplug the AC power cord from the AC
outlet or remove all the batteries if the unit will not be used for
several months or more. When the cord is plugged in, a small
amount of current continues to flow to the unit, even when the
power is turned oil.

PE PLAYBACK

TAPE OPERATIONS

Tape playback in both decks can be perlormed in the same way
- Use Type I (normal) tapes only.
' Tapes are played back on one side only.

1 Press theTAPE button and press the I]: button
to open the cassette holder.

Insert a tape with the exposed side facing downward and the
side to be played lacing toward you.
Push the cassette holder to close.

2 Press the > button to start play.

To stop play, press the II: button,

To pause play, press the II button. To resume play, press again.
To fast forward or rewind, press the « or » button in stop
mode. Then press the II: button to stop the tape,

To start play when the power ls off (Dlrecl Play
Function)

Press the P button under the tape deck. The power is turned
on and play of the inserted tape begins.

CONTINUOUS PLAY

To start play on deck 1 alter play on deck 2 without interruption,
proceed as follows:

During play on deck 2, press the II button then the > button for
the deck 1.

When play on deck 2 endsx the II button forthe deck 1 Is released
automatically and play on deck 1 starts.

About cassette tapes

- To prevent accidental erasure, break oil the plastic tabs on
the cassette tape alter recording with a screwdriver or other
pointed tool.

To record on the tape again, cover the tab openings with
adhesive tape, etc.

- 120-minute or longer tapes are extremely thin and easily
deformed or damaged. They are not recommended.

. Take up any slack in the tape with a pencil or similar tool
belore use, Slack tape may break orjam in the mechanism.

ALIMENTACION ELECTRICA

UTILIZACION DE LA CORRIENTE CA DEL

Ulilice sélo el cable eléclrico de CA suministrado. El uso de otros
cables puede provocar un incendio.

UTILIZACION DE BATERIAs

Abra la lapa de compartimiento de batenas en el Iado trasero y
coloque ocho batenas R20 (tamafio D), no suministradas, como
en la siguiente figura. Cierre Ia tapa

Cuando desconecte el cable de CA 0 extraiga Ias pilas,
desconecle Ia alimentacién de la unidad (cercicrse de que el
indicador OPE/BATT esté apagado).

Para cambiar de la allmentaclén eléclrica de CA a la
allmentacién de las batenas, desconecte el cable eléclrico de
CA del lomacomente de CA}

Las balerias se desgastan excesivamente cuando el cable eslé
conectado.

Deberé cambiar Ias baterlas cuando:

El indicador OPE/BAT se vuelve oscuro, baja la velocidad de la
cinta, baja el volumen 0 el sonido se escucha distorsionado
durante su funcionamiento.

Notas sobre las baterlas

Para evilar dafios pcr fugas o explosién, tenga en cuenla Io

siguieme:

- Inserle Ias baterias oon Ias mamas 9 y 6 correctamente
alineadas.

- No mezcle dislintos tipos de balerlas o baterias viejas con otras
nuevas.

- No recargue las baterias, caliente o desarme.

- Saque las baterias agoladasl
Si sale el liquido de Ias balerlas, limpie completamente para
sacarlas.

CONEXIONES

IMPORTANTE

- Compruebe que el cable eléclrico de CA esta desenchufado y
que se han sacado las batenas antes de coneclar los altavoces.

- Conecte sélo los altavoces suministrados.

1 lnstale los altavoces.
Para acoplar los altavoces, deslice cada allavoz por Ias
ménsulas de gul'a en el centre de la unidad hasla que su
allura sea la misma que la del aparato.
Para separar el aparato de los allavoces, deslice los
altavoces hacia arriba para desmontar, mientras pulsa la
perilla de Iiberacién d9 altavoces,

2 Conech los allavoces.
Conecle el cable de altavoz derecho a los lerminales Fl (den)
y el cable de allavoz izquierdo a los terminales L (izq.).
Conecte el cable de allavoz con la llnea quebrada blanca en
el 0 y el ctrc cable en el 0

OTRAS CONEXIONES

Las sefiales de sonido pueden enlrar en este aparato por las
lomas AUX/VIDEO.

Ulilice un cable con enchufes fonograficos RCA (no suministrado)
para conectar el equipo externo.

Conecle el enchule roio en la toma R (den) y el enchufe blanco
en la toma L (izq),

Para escuchar una fuenle externa

Pulse 9! botén AUX y reproduzca el equipo.

El aparalo puede sintanizarse a una hora especificada todos los
dias con el lemporizador integrado.

Ajusle el lemporizador de la sigulente forma con el aparato
coneclado.

Preparacldn
Compruebe que el reloj est?! a la hora correcta.

Para grabar la fuente ssleccionada a una cinla con la
funclén del lemporlzador

Antes de iniclar la configuracién del temporizador, coloque una
clnta a grabar en la platina 1 y empiece desde el paso 1.

1 Pulse el bolén TIMER para que aparezca 9 y
pulse el bolén II antes de 4 segundos.
Parpadean e y la hora.

Si no pulse 91 botén ll anles de 4 ssgundos, puede smpezar
otra operacién.

2 Cambie la hora de conexién del temporizador
pulsando el botén « o » y pulse el bolén
ll.

Repita eslo para cambiar los minutos de la
conexién del temporizador

3 Seleccione la duracién del periodo de activacién
por temporizador con el botén « o » y pulse
el bolén ll.

La duracién del periodo activado por temporlzador puede
ajustarse a entre 5 y 240 mlnutos en incrementos de 5
minulos.

4 Prepare la fuente.
Para escuchar un disco compaclo, pulse el botén CD y
cargue el disco.
Para escuchar la radlo, pulse el botén TUNER/BAND
slnlonice una emisora.
Para escuchar una cinta, pulse el baton TAPE. coloque la
cinta en la platina 1 6 2 y pulse el botén P de la platina
correspondiente para que ésta comience Ia reproduccién.
Para escuchar el equipo conectado a Ias tomes AUX/
VIDEO, pulse el botén AUX y ajuste el tamporizador del equipo
conectado (con el temporizador externo) y prepare para
reproducirl

5 Aiuste el volumen y pulse el botdn POWER para
descanectar el aparato.
El 9 sigue en la pantalla después de desconeclar el aparato
(modo de espera del temporizador).

Cuando llegue a la hora de conexién del temporizador, el
aparalo se conecla y empieza a reproducir la fuenle
seleccionada.

Si el nivel de volumen estaba a 22 o mas cuando desconecté
el aparato, bajaré automélicamente a 21 cuando se panama
con el temporizador.

6 Para Ia grabacién con temporizador: pulse el
botén 0 para la platina 1.
Se pulsa simultaneameme el botén >.

Para verificar la hora especificada

Pulse el botén TIMER. La hora de conexlén del lemporizador y
la duracién del periodo activado por el temporizador parpadean
durame 4 segundos.

Para cancelar temporalmenle el modo deespara del
temporizador
Pulse dos veces el botén TIMER para que se apague 0.

Utilizacién del aparalo cuando eslé ajustado el
temporizador

Puede utilizar normalmente el aparalo después de ajustar el
lemporizador.

Anles de desceneclar el aparalo, repila el paso 4 para preparar
la fuente y ajustar el volumenl

. La reproduoclén con temporizador no empezara a menos que
se haya desconeclado el aparato.

- El equipo conectado no puede conectarse y desconectarse
con el temporizador integrado de este aparalo. Utilics un
temporizador externo.

CHARGEMENT DE DISQUES

Cel appareil est équipé de trois tiroirs a disque (tiroirs 1 , 2 et 3),
ce qui permet ole charger simultanément jusqu'ei lrois CD.

1 Appuyez sur la touche A correspondent au
numéro du tiroir a ouvrlr.
La fonclion CD est automatiquement sélectionnée comme
source, et le tircir a CD spécifié souvre.

2 Chargez un disque, la face portant Iétiquette
dirigée vers le haut, et retermez le tiroir en
appuyant sur la meme touche qué létape 1.

3 Charge: dautres disques de la meme manlere.

Les indicateurs de disque indiquent létat actuel des tiroirs
a disque.

Quand un disque est charge et que ses informations sont
aifichées, Iindicateur correspond sallume en orange.

Quancl un disque est charge mais que ses informalions ne sont
pas alfichées, l'indicaleur correspond sallume en vert.

Si aucun disque n'est charge, l'indicateur correspond sallume
en rouge,

LECTURE DES DISQUES

Charge: des disques.

Pour llre tous les disques dans les tiroirs a disque,
appuyez sur la touche > sur lappareil ou sur la
télécommande.

La lecture démarre par le disque dans le tiroir 1.

(Si un autre disque est présentement sélectionné, a savoir celui
dont Iindicateur est allume en orange, la lecture commencera
par ce disque.)

Pour lire un seul disque, appuyez surlatouche1>,
2> ou 13> correspondent au disque a lire.
La lecture demarre a partir de la premiere piste du disque spécilié.

Temps de lecture écoulé

Numero de la piste Iue

Pour arréter la lecture, appuyez sur la touche I.

Pour faire une pause de lecture, appuyez sur la touche II.
Appuyez Line seconde fois pour reprendre la lecture.

Pour rechercher un point particulier pendant la lecture,
maintenez la touche « ou » pressée et reléchez»la au point
souhaité.

Pour sauter au debut dune piste pendant in lecture, appuyez
plusieurs fois sur la touche « ou ».

Pour retirer le disque, appuyez sur la touche A correspondent
au disque Ea retirer.

Appuyez Ea nouveau sur la touche pour relermer Ie tiroir.

Pour démarrer la lecture quand lappareil est hors
tension (function Lecture dlrecte)

Appuyez sur la touche CD. Lappareil se met sous tension et la
lecture du disque charge démarre.

Sélection dune piste avec la telécommande

Vous pouvez commencer Ia lecture de la plage souhaitee du CD
présentement selectionne, a savoir celui dent llndicateur est
allume en orange.

Appuyez sur les touches numeriques el la touche +10 pour
sélectionner une piste.

Exemples:

Pour selectionner la piste 25, appuyez sur les touches +10, +10
et 5.

Pour sélectionner la piste 10, appuyez sur les touches +10 et 0.
La lecture de la piste selectionnee demarre, puis la lecture se
poursuit jusqué la lin du disque.

Pour modifier laffichage en mode de lecture
Appuyez sur la touche DISPLAY sur la telecommande. Chaque
pression de la touche modifie laffichage comme suit.
® Numéro de la piste Iue et temps de lecture écoulé
E (Exemple: 1 0:25)
(2) Numéro de la piste Iue et temps de lecture restant
(Example: 1 -37:51)

REMARGUE

- Nutilisez pas des CD de lorme irréguliere (exemple: en forme
de coeur, octogonal). Cela pourrait se traduire par une anomalie
de fonctionnement.

- Placez les disques de 8 cm sur le centre interne du tiroir.

- Ne placez pas plus d'un disque compact sur le plateau at disque.

- Nulilisez pas Iappareil en position inclinée.

- Fietirez tous les disquee lors du transport de lappareil.

o A la premiere mise sous tension de I'appareil apres le
branchement dans une prise murale, le tircir1 est sélectionné,
indépendamment de la selection effectuée.
