New features available in your upgraded ACT-3: - Dolby Digital EX decoding - DTS ES Matrix and Discrete decoding - 24/96 PCM decoding - Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS Neo:6, 5-Channel Stereo - Two Channel and Multi Channel Analog pass-through - Combination Analog/Digital bass management system IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS- REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS The original ACT-3 came equipped with two center channels and two subwoofer outputs. The upgrade adds two additional channels of output for the surround back channels. A DB-25 connector has also been added to the rear panel of the ACT-3 to support multi-channel analog output from a DVD player. Due to these additions, the rear panel connections for the ACT-3 have changed. Facing the rear panel, the multi-channel analog input is located on the top right-hand corner of the preamplifier. In the preamplifier connections, the subwoofer now connects below the center channel connection. The surround back left and right channels connect where the subwoofer was previously connected. SETUP MENU The upgrade to the ACT-3 incorporates a new menu system to allow for easier setup and overall use. A Setup menu is available for Speaker Configuration, Global Level Settings, Speaker Distances, Surround EX Setup, and Crossover Setting. Press the GUIDE button on the ACT-3 remote control to enter the Setup Menu. Press the Up (Pause) and Down (Stop) buttons to scroll through the available menus. Press the SEL/PLAY button to enter and exit each menu selection. SPEAKER CONFIGURATION This menu allows you to adjust for the speakers present in your system. The default settings are Small Front Speakers, Small Center Channel, Small Surround Channels, No Surround Back Channels, and With A Subwoofer. Press the Up and Down buttons to scroll back and forth through the available speakers. Press the LVL DN (Rew) and LVL UP (FF) buttons to adjust the setting. The Small setting will place a high pass filter on the selected channel. A Large setting will run the selected channel full range. The Center Channel, Surround Channels, Subwoofer, and Surround Back Channel have an available option of None. Setting the surround back channel to None will not allow decoding of Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES. At least one Surround Back channel is required to get the most out of these soundtracks. It is not required to have Surround Back speakers to play the soundtracks, as they are backwards compatible with a 5.1 speaker setup. UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS ACT 3 SUB SURR BACK LEFT AND RIGHT
